Mueller Indicts 12 Russians

A federal grand jury has indicted 12 Russian intelligence officers for allegedly hacking emails from the Hillary Clinton campaign and Democratic Party during the 2016 election, the Justice Department announced Friday.

“The internet allows foreign adversaries to attack America in new and unexpected ways,” Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said during a press conference.

All 12 defendants are members of GRU, the Russian intelligence agency.

The case stems from Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into Russia’s efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election. It comes as President Trump plans to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin for a summit in Helsinki on Monday.

The indictment amounted to the clearest allegation yet of Russian meddling in the election, blaming Moscow for the email hacking scandal that rocked the 2016 race by revealing embarrassing and politically damaging discussions by major Democrats. The charges swiftly fueled calls from Democratic lawmakers for Trump to cancel his Putin summit.

Wow. Those Russians better lawyer up. They're really in trouble now.

Isn't it amazing that these indictments were handed out just days before President Trump's Helsinki summit with Vladimir Putin?

Boy, that timing is unbelievable. What a coincidence!

...The indictment comes as Mueller's team has investigated whether anyone associated with the Trump campaign assisted the Russians.

But during his press conference, Rosenstein said, "there is no allegation in this indictment that any American citizen committed a crime."

That is the takeaway from all this.

NO ALLEGATION IN THIS INDICTMENT THAT ANY AMERICAN CITIZEN COMMITTED A CRIME.

Nonetheless, the Democrats are jumping on the indictments to insist that the president cancel his meeting with Putin.

...The Rosenstein announcement came at the same time Trump was meeting with Queen Elizabeth II in England, with plans to meet Putin for a summit on Monday. Trump has previously cited Putin's denials of election interference, while saying he would like their two countries to get along.

“President Trump should cancel his meeting with Vladimir Putin until Russia takes demonstrable and transparent steps to prove that they won’t interfere in future elections," Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said Friday. "Glad-handing with Vladimir Putin on the heels of these indictments would be an insult to our democracy.”

This is all so lame.

Of course, the FBI should investigate election tampering, but don't tell me the timing of these indictments isn't political.

It's ridiculous for Democrats to suggest President Trump should cancel his meeting with Putin.

To the contrary, the case could be made that a summit with Russia is more necessary than ever.

Just remember what Obama said prior to the 2016 election, when the Leftists believed Hillary Clinton was poised to become the next president:

In a reversal of a statement made last week, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security said Tuesday that Russian-backed hackers did not target Wisconsin’s voter registration data prior to November's U.S. presidential election.

...“Based on our external analysis, the WI [Wisconsin] IP address affected belongs to the WI Department of Workforce Development, not the Elections Commission,” said the email from Juan Figueroa, with Homeland Security’s Office of Infrastructure Protection.

However, Homeland Security spokesman Scott McConnell didn’t waver from the department’s original stance. He said in a statement that 21 states were affected as Russian-backed hackers were “seeking vulnerabilities and access to U.S. election infrastructure.”

Individual states, not the DHS, would decide whether to disclose the full details of the DHS findings, McConnell said.

Mark Thomsen, chairman of the Wisconsin Elections Commission, was not pleased by the DHS reversal.

“Either they were right on Friday and this is a cover-up," Thomsen said, "or they were wrong on Friday and we deserve an apology.”

Michael Haas, Wisconsin’s chief elections administrator, said the DHS never informed state officials prior to the Nov. 8 presidential election "that Russian government actors were targeting election systems.” Wisconsin’s chief information officer, David Cagigal, echoed the assertion.

Cagigal added that the state’s systems "were protected" and there were "no incidences.”

Hillary said 17 intelligence agencies "concluded with high confidence that the Russians ran an extensive information war campaign against my campaign, to influence voters in the election. They did it through paid advertising we think, they did it through false news sites, they did it through these thousand agents, they did it through machine learning, which you know, kept spewing out this stuff over and over again. The algorithms that they developed. So that was the conclusion. And I think it’s fair to ask, how did that actually influence the campaign? And how did they know what messages to deliver?"

Then she got more specific, wading in to how she lost the key states of Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. She says the Russians -- "let's say Wikileaks, something" -- dumped false information about her. Deluged with that on social media, voters -- dumb ones, especially, Hillary said -- on the fence in the waning days were searching for the truth, she said. "And we know that the Google searches for this stuff were particularly high in places in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania," Hillary concluded.

Oh, good grief.

Hillary never came to Wisconsin to campaign. For her to say that she knows what we were thinking here or what influenced us is nuts.

She thinks the Russians dumped false information about her and Trump allies helped "weaponize" it, resulting in her loss in Wisconsin.

Months before the election, I was struck by all the Trump signs throughout the state. Other than in urban areas like Milwaukee and Madison, the signs were everywhere. Trump had a lot of support in Wisconsin and it didn't just spring up in the waning days of the campaign as Hillary claims.

Google searches? Give me a break!

We rejected Democrats. We were told Hillary would win Wisconsin and Feingold likely would defeat Johnson. That's what was going to happen according to polls.

WRONG!

The polls were wrong. We voted for Ron Johnson and kept Russ Feingold out of the Senate. We voted for Donald Trump and kept Hillary out of the White House.

The good thing about Hillary coming out and talking crazy like this is that it prompts me to relive Election Day. That night, watching the returns, was incredible. First, we learned that Feingold failed, again, to defeat Ron Johnson. It was such a relief. I was so happy Johnson won. And then, Wisconsin was called for Trump.

For the first time since Ronald Reagan, the Republican nominee won Wisconsin.

Hillary's weaponizing WikiLeaks theory is loony. We were not duped by the Russians and their allies. It's insulting for her to say Wisconsinites were too stupid to make an informed choice. The reality is she was on course to lose. She didn't campaign here. She miscalculated. She lost because we rejected HER and the Democrat agenda.

It wasn't the Russians, Hillary. It was you.

I have no problem with this hearing. In fact, I think it's great. The clip of Rep. Devin Nunes clarifying that there is NO evidence of any tampering with vote tallies says it all.

We went through a statewide recount here in Wisconsin and Trump gained votes. Hillary lost again and bigger.

The Democrats/Leftists have been trying to overturn the election since Hillary was defeated. They are relentless in attempting to delegitimize the duly elected president of the United States.

What they need to do is look at Hillary. They need to look at the U.S. map of the precinct election results. Hillary is the one who put millions of American voters in her basket of deplorables. They are responsible for their defeat.

Millions of Americans wanted their voices heard. They wanted change. They voted for the NOT Hillary candidate because they were dissatisfied with the direction Obama took our country and Hillary would mean four more years of the policies that ignored or harmed millions of Americans.

The Russians had nothing to do with that.

Trump Press Conference - January 11, 2017

President-elect Donald Trump held his first press conference since winning the 2016 presidential election yesterday.

Before Vice President-elect Mike Pence introduced Trump, Sean Spicer made a statement about the Buzzfeed hit job.

After Pence made his remarks, Trump gave an opening statement. Then it was time for questions from the press.

Notice how members of the press are shouting. When Obama held one of his rare press conferences, he stuck to a prepared list and called on reporters. It was an orchestrated event, pre-planned, and very controlled.

The atmosphere of Trump's press conference was very different. It was much more freewheeling.

So many of the questions were about Russia and the Buzzfeed/CNN story. Apparently, that's the biggest issue facing our new president. Quite telling in terms of the motives of the media. Then, Trump's tax returns came up. What a surprise!

About halfway through the conference, attorney Sherri Dillon gave a lengthy statement about Trump's business interests and explained how the Trump Organization will be handled to avoid ethical conflicts. As soon as she finished, the reporters pounced, yelling to get Trump's attention.

There was an ObamaCare question and a question about companies leaving the country. Trump was asked about his tweet referencing Nazi Germany, the border wall with Mexico, and his Supreme Court nominee.

Of course, the big news is Trump calling out CNN as fake news. CNN's Jim Acosta started shouting at Trump, even though it's being reported that Trump was out of line. Given that Obama had no problem marginalizing the FOX News network for the duration of his presidency, I don't see how Leftists can be so outraged over Trump refusing to take one question from CNN yesterday after he was treated so unfairly by the outlet.

I liked Trump's remarks about Russia and Hillary's "reset" button.

Bottom line: People, including the Leftist media, are going to have to come terms with the reality that a week from Friday, Trump will be the president of the United States.

Podesta Gave Away His Password

We've known this for months. John Podesta allowed his email account to be hacked. He offered access to his information because he screwed up and his staff screwed up.

"Podesta gave out that his password was the word ‘password’. His own staff said this email that you’ve received, this is totally legitimate. So, this is something ... a 14-year-old kid could have hacked Podesta that way."

...Wikileaks published more than 50,000 emails detailing dubious practices at the Clinton Foundation, top journalists working closely with the Clinton campaign, key Clinton aides speaking derisively of Catholics and a top Democratic National Committee (DNC) official providing debate questions to Clinton in advance.

Assange has repeatedly denied claims by the Obama administration that Russia was behind the cyberattacks that exposed the DNC and Podesta emails. Assange has repeatedly insisted that Wikileaks' source for the emails was not the Russian government or any "state party," and said the outgoing administration was attempting to "delegitimize" President-Elect Donald Trump by making those claims.

When it comes to Podesta, he granted access to his account.

That was not some sort of sophisticated cyberattack. It was his mistake.

When it comes to the Obama administration's claim that the Russian government was behind the hacking alleged to influence the election, there's something that doesn't make sense.

Why would Russia want Trump to be president? It certainly seems it would have been in Russia's interests to have Hillary Clinton, an appeaser, be elected and continue the dreadfully misguided and weak Obama foreign policy.

Trump has promised to rebuild our military. Why would Russia want that?
