George Will is cheering on Barack Obama.
Will seems to have both a sadistic and masochistic streak.
In his column, "The Downfall of Faux Conservatism," sadist Will continues to bludgeon Sarah Palin and he gives John McCain no mercy.
From the invasion of Iraq to the selection of Sarah Palin, carelessness has characterized recent episodes of faux conservatism. Tuesday's probable repudiation of the Republican Party will punish characteristics displayed in the campaign's closing days.
Some polls show that Palin has become an even heavier weight in John McCain's saddle than is his association with George W. Bush. Did McCain, who seems to think that Palin's never having attended a "Georgetown cocktail party" is sufficient qualification for the vice presidency, lift an eyebrow when she said that vice presidents "are in charge of the United States Senate"?
...Palin may be an inveterate simplifier; McCain has a history of reducing controversies to cartoons. A Republican financial expert recalls attending a dinner with McCain for the purpose of discussing with him domestic and international financial complexities that clearly did not fascinate the senator. As the dinner ended, McCain's question for his briefer was: "So, who is the villain?"
Will predicts that Barack Obama will become president of the United States, but he's enjoying slamming McCain and Palin so much that he doesn't seem to care.
He seems to think that the downfall of "faux conservatism" is reason to rejoice. He certainly seems to find satisfaction in saying, "I told you so." He appears to be eagerly awaiting his whipping administered by the far Left.
It's a selfish exercise.
Do Will and those of his ilk really think it will be a victory for conservatives if McCain is defeated?
Is it necessary to destroy to build? Must the country endure the damage of total Dem rule?
An Obama presidency guarantees a decidedly liberal judiciary, the ramifications of which will be felt far beyond this generation.
That won't promote "genuine" conservatism, whatever that is, as opposed to the "faux" variety.
Bottom line: George Will is a useful idiot.

His column is intelectually honest. Anyone with half of a brain has realized that Palin is way over her head in this election, unqualified for any office, and has not shown any intellegence. meanwhile, she has gone to 6 colleges to get a 4 year degree, and defies logic with the majority of her statements. She now thinks she is going to run for President in 2012. G-d save us if she does.
Meanwhile the judiciary still won't be liberal becuase its not as if the dems will have enough seats to block a fillibuster. You may not like Roe v. Wade by any legal scholar even those who are against abortion believe it was decided properly. Since that is the only case you know, we won't even talk about the conservatives approach in Lawrence v. Texas. Meanwhile you have continually lied about Obama's stances, ignored the conservatives who have screwed up. Wailed on Powell when he has never done anything than what is best for America, and have claimed to be a conservative, when you do not know what a true conservative is, what the republican party stands for. The party has been hijacked by right to lifers, religious rihgt, and does not stand for the things main stream America does today.

How juvenile!
Even Ruth Bader Ginsburg said that Roe v. Wade went too far in being too pro-abortion. So, that Roe was properly decided is a total farse. Even Roe admitted that deception was abundant in the court case.
Mary, at last I agree with somethiing you've written! It IS juvenile that Ros v. Wade is the only Supreme Court case Palin knows. And yet she thinks she is qualified to be VP. Heck, she's so sure of herself that she didn't even hesitate when asked by McCain.
Its not about Palin being self made. She accomplished nothing. She but lied. Obama wasn't helped by affirmative action, but don't let the facts hit you in the face.
Sarah Palin is where she is because John McCain picked her. She did not put herself in this position.
If he had picked someone else, we would not know Sarah Palin. I can't name one other Alaskan Governor.
And I do think that what McCain has done by running a campaign so unreflective of his career and by putting the conservative right on the ticket and then probably losing, is set the dogs of war loose between the two halves of the Republican party. I don't think losing will strengthen it.
It is going to be awfully hard to put patrician Republicans together with the right wing again in sizable enough numbers to win nationally.
Palin is Governor of Alaska by kicking corrupt good ol' boy Republcian ass, which means, of course, she has accomplished nothing. Nothing at all. Good grief. At least she has actually won an election, unlike Obama.
I'm so sick of Leftists and some conservatives belittling Palin.
It's so unfair.
Right. Being elected the governor of a state is nothing, and the Alaskans who voted her into office are dolts.
What BS! What condescending crap!
That's a tough one Mary. America voted for Bush (well, sort of.....). Are they all dolts?

I have a problem with the way you use my name, yet you choose to be nameless.
