Gwen Ifill's Omission

Gwen Ifill touts her professionalism as a journalist.

Yes, she's a seasoned professional. Everybody knows that. Questions about her impartiality are unwarranted.

As a professional journalist, shouldn't Ifill know that she should reveal anything that might present a conflict of interest or an appearance of a conflict of interest?

Of course.

But she didn't.

The host of PBS' "Washington Week" and senior correspondent on "The NewsHour" said she did not tell the Commission on Presidential Debates about the book. The commission had no immediate comment when contacted by The Associated Press.

It looks like Ifill wasn't properly vetted by the Commission on Presidential Debates.

Interesting.

Speaking of vetting, Ifill has questioned whether Sarah Palin was adequately vetted by the McCain campaign.

From an interview with Rep. Mary Fallin (R - Oklahoma):

GWEN IFILL: Are you satisfied that she (Palin) has been vetted adequately?

I'm not at all satisfied that Ifill was adequately vetted.

John McCain's reaction to the biased Ifill as moderator of tonight's vice presidential debate:

Hours ahead of the vice presidential debate, Sen John McCain (R-Ariz.) criticized the selection of PBS' Gwen Ifill as moderator because she is writing a book called "The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama."

"Frankly, I wish they had picked a moderator that isn’t writing a book favorable to Barack Obama — let's face it," McCain said on "Fox & Friends." "But I have to have to have confidence that Gwen Ifill will handle this as the professional journalist that she is. ...

"Life isn’t fair, as I mentioned earlier in the program."

Ifill is in a no-win situation.

If she's tough on Sarah Palin, Republicans will cite that as evidence of her pro-Obama bias.

If she's not tough, her Democrat comrades will be upset with her.

Oh! what a tangled web we weave
When first we practice to not be forthcoming about writing The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama, scheduled to be released on Inauguration Day!

Bias...are you kidding? The Republican campaign would probably whine if a bunch of 5th graders were asking the questions.

The woman can't even answer a simple question like what kind of newspapers or magazines she likes to read.

SHE COULD NOT NAME ONE. This wasn't a difficult question. This wasn't a Gotcha question.

Are you afraid that Gwen Ifill will ask Sarah to recite the Alphabet? Ohh... tough question.
Maybe you're hoping that a new moderator would have asked hunting questions. How did you gut and clean a moose?

Every Presidential or VP candidate should be prepared to answer any basic question on government affairs, international affairs no matter who is asking the question. This isn't rocket science. Politicians are in the public eye. If you don't like the heat. Stay out of the fire.

Hey genius, Ifill is reporter and a writer. Information on her work takes approx two seconds to find on a little thing I like to call the "internets." You're responding to this "news" about Ifill just the way the Republican spin machine wants you to: they want you to think that this "liberal media" pulled a fast one on the American public. Guess what Einstein, there's a little thing called "Google" and--now I know a lot of crusty old GOPs are not aware of this--but you can actually find information about people in seconds. Give this a shot: http://www.google.com/search?q=gwen+ifill&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

Your comments perfectly reflect the liberals' arrogance and condescension -- the things that have turned off so many Americans.

I'm referring to the people Obama calls the bitter Americans, the ones clinging to their faith and values.

If the shoe was on the other foot...Can you Say Fox News?....fighting for democracy and Lindsay would be screaming bloody murder.......never mind the fact that Fox isn't nearly as biased as CNN and MSNBC along with PBS, ABC, NBC and let's not forget Dan Rather's CBS.

Ifill did ask all kinds of biased questions but I'm sure those two didn't think so....they are biased to Ifills side.

When are Americans going to wake up and be Americans? The media isn't supposed to take sides. They are supposed to protect us from Politicians. Instead the practice politics......mainly liberal politics at that too.

The media are definitely dropping the ball.
