Kim Davis and 'Eye of the Tiger'

It's putting it mildly to say this was kind of a strange event.

If I just got out of jail and had to speak to a crowd of supporters, I would not have allowed "Eye of the Tiger" to be played as I took the stage. I wouldn't have been comfortable with that.

Turns out, Survivor wasn't comfortable with the use of the song.

Survivor objects to use of 'Eye of the Tiger' at Kentucky clerk rally

Survivor, the group behind the 1980s hit “Eye of the Tiger,” is objecting to the use of the song at a rally for Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis, who was released on Tuesday after serving jail time for refusing to issue marriage licenses for same-sex couples.

Davis appeared on stage at a rally with presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, with the Survivor song adding extra theatricality to the event.

But the song’s co-author, Frankie Sullivan, posted a message on the group’s Facebook page saying that it was used without their permission.

“NO! We did not grant Kim Davis any rights to use ‘My Tune -The Eye Of The Tiger.’

“I would not grant her the rights to use Charmin! C’mom Mike, you are not The Donald but you can do better than that –

“See Ya really SoooooooonnnnnnN!!!!!!”

Oh, good grief. How lame!

Frankie Sullivan should be thrilled someone is using his "oldie," not whining about it.

Sullivan certainly should say he doesn't support Kim Davis if he doesn't, as a matter of clarification.

That Charmin comment is so stupid.

In my opinion, "Eye of the Tiger" has maintained its status since the early 80s.

The song still sucks as much as it did over thirty years ago. Quite a feat.
