Warren Scherer - Just Words?

UWM's "Just Words?" campaign is an initiative to combat microaggressions.

What is that?

It's an effort to control speech and limit what one can say.

Certain terms are deemed inappropriate, unacceptable speech, such as "Nazi," "Third World," "illegal alien," "man up," and "politically correct" (PC). "Lame" and "thug" also made the list.

Warren Scherer is the director of UWM's Inclusive Excellence Center and the man behind the "Just Words?" program.

From Media Research Center:

In order to help students become “citizens of global and diverse communities,” UWM’s Inclusive Excellence Center has created a “Just Words?” initiative to combat microaggressions.

“Microaggression” is defined on a flier for the program as a “brief and commonplace daily verbal, behavioral, or environmental humiliations, whether intentional or unintentional that communicate hostile, derogatory, or negative slights and insults. Typically based in assumptions and stereotypes.”
According to MRC, Scherer earns $50,500 a year as director of UWM's Inclusive Excellence Center. His mission is to limit "hostile, derogatory, or negative slights and insults."

Keep an eye on Scherer's Twitter account for insight.

Well. That's sort of hostile and derogatory and negative, isn't it?

That's aggression, big time.

Priceless.

Kim Davis and 'Eye of the Tiger'

It's putting it mildly to say this was kind of a strange event.

If I just got out of jail and had to speak to a crowd of supporters, I would not have allowed "Eye of the Tiger" to be played as I took the stage. I wouldn't have been comfortable with that.

Turns out, Survivor wasn't comfortable with the use of the song.

Survivor objects to use of 'Eye of the Tiger' at Kentucky clerk rally

Survivor, the group behind the 1980s hit “Eye of the Tiger,” is objecting to the use of the song at a rally for Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis, who was released on Tuesday after serving jail time for refusing to issue marriage licenses for same-sex couples.

Davis appeared on stage at a rally with presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, with the Survivor song adding extra theatricality to the event.

But the song’s co-author, Frankie Sullivan, posted a message on the group’s Facebook page saying that it was used without their permission.

“NO! We did not grant Kim Davis any rights to use ‘My Tune -The Eye Of The Tiger.’

“I would not grant her the rights to use Charmin! C’mom Mike, you are not The Donald but you can do better than that –

“See Ya really SoooooooonnnnnnN!!!!!!”

Oh, good grief. How lame!

Frankie Sullivan should be thrilled someone is using his "oldie," not whining about it.

Sullivan certainly should say he doesn't support Kim Davis if he doesn't, as a matter of clarification.

That Charmin comment is so stupid.

In my opinion, "Eye of the Tiger" has maintained its status since the early 80s.

The song still sucks as much as it did over thirty years ago. Quite a feat.

Mark Pocan: Rubio - Ricky Ricardo, Fiona - Cruella De Vil

Over the weekend at the state's Dem party convention, Mark Pocan, DEMOCRAT Congressman from Wisconsin, attacked Republican 2016 presidential candidates by making some really childish and somewhat offensive remarks.

In his little routine, Pocan was casting a House of Cards series.

Here's video:

Transcript, from The Weekly Standard:

MARK POCAN: The GOP primary field is turning into quite a circus. In fact, it is going to be so entertaining, in fact, I hear that Netflix is going to create a House of Cards special series just on the 2016 primary. It's going to be called 'House of Cards: Jokers Gone Wild.' Now, I've actually been leaked a casting presentation from the producers that I could share with you tonight if you’d like to see it, would you like that?

Alright, let's, if we could, our first one, Kevin from The Office as Governor Mike Huckabee. Next, Will Ferrell from The Campaign as Governor Rick Perry, but now, don't forget, you got to put glasses on him because now he's smart. Next, Grandpa Munster as Senator Ted Cruz. That is really, really, scarily, eerily similar. Ricky Ricardo from I Love Lucy as Senator Marco Rubio. Cruella de Vil as Carly Fiorina. Will Ferrell in a second role as Senator Paul Rand. All right. George W. Bush as Governor Jeb Bush as George W. Bush. Alfred E. Neuman as Senator Lindsey Graham. Oh, now that's not nice, Jabba the Hutt as Governor Chris Christie. Who put that in there? Who put that in there? That's just not nice. Kenneth the Page from 30 Rock as Governor Bobby Jindal, and finally a pair of flip-flops as Governor Scott Walker.
How buffoonish!

Pocan made a fool of himself.

Who is "Senator Paul Rand"?

Do you think a Republican could get away with mocking a Cuban-American Democrat candidate by calling him Ricky Ricardo?

If a Republican called a female Dem candidate Cruella de Vil, the Democrat War on Women brigade would be outraged and having a fit.

Apparently, Pocan was auditioning for the role as biggest buffoon in Wisconsin's Democrat congressional contingent. He's giving Gwen Moore a run for her money.

As bad as Pocan's remarks were, I think Gwen still holds the title.

SNL: Juan Williams and NPR

During "Weekend Update," the controversy surrounding NPR's firing of Juan Williams was used by Saturday Night Live as an opportunity to slam FOX News and Republicans.

There was absolutely no criticism of the outrageous move by NPR, and Williams' remarks were mischaracterized.

SETH MEYERS: FOX News on Thursday hired news analyst Juan Williams just one day after National Public Radio fired him for making disparaging comments about Muslims, marking the first time someone has been fired and hired for the same comment.

SETH MEYERS: Following Williams' firing, several leading Republicans including Newt Gingrich, Mike Huckabee, and Sarah Palin, accused NPR of censorship and called for Congress to cut off federal funding for NPR. So in case you were wondering how much Republicans hate NPR, they're siding with a black guy named Juan.

I think it would have been more appropriate to approach the subject from the angle of how much Leftists hate FOX News.

Mike Huckabee

Mike Huckabee had a number of quotable lines in his address to the Republican National Convention.

He began by thanking the elite media for doing something he didn't think could be done -- uniting the Republican Party.

"The reporting of the past few days has proven tackier than the costume change at a Madonna concert."

Huckabee said that Sarah Palin "got more votes running for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska than Joe Biden got running for president of the United States."

Obama Clings to Religion and the Cross

I guess this means that Barack Obama is bitter.

He's clinging to his religion. That's what one does to explain one's frustrations and for the purpose of winning votes in Kentucky.

I wonder if the great uniter Obama, the transcendent one, is considering Mike Huckabee to be his running mate.

Does John McCain want Huckabee as his VP?

After all, this campaign is about the Lord's work.

At the very least, McCain needs a cross.

No Miracles for Huckabee

In a shocking turn of events, Mike Huckabee dropped out of the race.

He's no longer running to be the Republican nominee for president.

IRVING, Texas -- Mike Huckabee bowed to reality Tuesday and out of the Republican presidential race. "We kept the faith," he told his end-of-the-road rally Tuesday after John McCain clinched the nomination. "I'd rather lose an election than lose the principles that got me into politics in the first place."

The genial conservative went out as he had campaigned all along, with a quip: "It's time for us to hit the reset button."

Huckabee won the leadoff Iowa caucuses, making him a sudden but short-lived sensation, and then seven other states: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee, West Virginia, Louisiana and Kansas. Meantime, McCain piled up big victories on his way to winning the prize on Tuesday night.

The writing was on the wall for weeks, but the former Arkansas governor hung on until McCain secured the necessary delegates.

"We started this effort with very little recognition and virtually no resources," Huckabee told supporters. "We ended with slightly more recognition and very few resources."

The crowd laughed. "But what a journey," he said. "What a journey. A journey of a lifetime."

Huckabee rarely raised a negative word during the campaign about McCain, a man he clearly likes, and he called him Tuesday night to congratulate him.

Huckabee said he extended "my commitment to him and to the party to do everything possible to unite our party, but more importantly to unite our country."

Huckabee vowed: "We aren't going away completely. We want to be a part of helping to keep the issues alive that have kept us in this race."

I don't know what makes Huckabee tick. He obviously loves to perform.

Although he vows not to leave, I wish he would go away completely. Monday was the first time he sent out an e-mail that wasn't a solicitation for a campaign contribution.

From: "Governor Mike Huckabee"
Subject: Voices Of Our Party Today And Tomorrow

I am campaigning across Texas today. While I am on the road, I ask that you read and then share with your friends, family and neighbors something very special: 1,800+ individual endorsements of my campaign from voters just like you.

They are from the people that I meet everyday on the campaign trail. They are the voices of our Republican Party today and tomorrow.

To leave your own endorsement you need to sign up as a Ranger today. You can do so here.

Please share these endorsements with friends and family. Help us finish strong.

Huckabeee finally stopped fund-raising, though he still is signing up "Rangers."

I don't know why people continued to send their money to fund Huckabee's Excellent Adventure after it was clear that nothing short of a miracle would make it possible for him to defeat John McCain.

I suspect that McCain, if elected, will reward Huckabee for his role in helping him secure the nomination.

Yes, Huckabee is finally out of the race; but unfortunately, he isn't going away.

Also, meet, greet and show support for candidates for statewide and county offices

Any questions or to RSVP, please call 414-727-1220.

Of course, Giuliani and Romney are history. Notice Ron Paul wasn't mentioned. He gets no respect, no respect at all.

It's a good thing that McCain will be attending the dinner, especially since Mike Huckabee will be spending three days in Wisconsin.

I suspect McCain is increasing his time in Wisconsin to do his best to avoid any more embarrassing defeats in primaries and caucuses.

Huckabee's momentum in spite of McCain's virtual lock on the nomination is an issue.

Wisconsin has been a battleground state in the past two presidential elections. It is wise for McCain to at least show some interest in Wisconsin during the primary season.

Most importantly, Milwaukeeans do not have to worry about politics getting in the way of their Serb Hall Friday Fish Fry plans.

The Reagan Day Dinner will be held in a separate area of the facility.

Serb Hall's Friday Fish Fry will be available to the public as usual. Good news.
