Alcee Hastings and Sarah Palin

These Dems just keep imploding.

The latest: Alcee Hastings

ABC News' Teddy Davis Reports: Florida Democratic Congressman Alcee Hastings pointed to Sarah Palin on Wednesday to rally Jews to Obama.

"If Sarah Palin isn’t enough of a reason for you to get over whatever your problem is with Barack Obama, then you damn well had better pay attention," said Hastings. "Anybody toting guns and stripping moose don’t care too much about what they do with Jews and blacks. So, you just think this through."

Hastings, who is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, made his comments in Washington, D.C., while participating in a panel discussion sponsored by the National Jewish Democratic Council.

Asked what the congressman meant, Hastings spokesman David Goldenberg told ABC News that he was trying to argue that Palin is an "extremely conservative woman who is out of touch with mainstream America."

This sort of rhetoric from Hastings is inexcusable. He's a bigot sitting in the U.S. House of Representatives.

This is the sort of anger and divisiveness from the Left that has permeated this presidential campaign. It's disgraceful.

It's no way to try to win an election.
HASTINGS: Anybody toting guns and stripping moose don’t care too much about what they do with Jews and blacks. So, you just think this through.

I've thought it through.

Apparently, Hastings thinks that hunters are bigots, against Jews and blacks.

It's very clear, albeit loony.

To suggest that Palin is bigoted because she hunts is indicative of being out of touch with mainstream America.

Mary - since you like Palin so much, and the Dems are being so mean and unfair to her, perhaps you should do some blow by blow analysis of Palin's own words. Here are some from her recent interview with Katie Couric to get things started:

Couric: You’ve cited Alaska’s proximity to Russia as part of your foreign policy experience. What did you mean by that?

Palin: That Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia, and on our other side, the land— boundary that we have with— Canada. It— it’s funny that a comment like that was— kind of made to— cari— I don’t know, you know? Reporters—

Couric: Mock?

PALIN: Yeah, mocked, I guess that’s the word, yeah.

COURIC: Explain to me why that enhances your foreign policy credentials.

PALIN: Well, it certainly does because our— our next door neighbors are foreign countries. They’re in the state that I am the executive of. And there in Russia—

COURIC: Have you ever been involved with any negotiations, for example, with the Russians?

PALIN: We have trade missions back and forth. We— we do— it’s very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia as Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where— where do they go? It’s Alaska. It’s just right over the border. It is— from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there. They are right next to— to our state.

Very Vice-Presidential.

Yeah, I saw those excerpts last night.

So what?

I look forward to her debate with Biden.

I'd like to see Palin debate Obama for that matter.

The issue here, however, is not Palin and foreign policy.

It's the despicable statements made by Hastings.

Unbelievable.

You have no comments on that?

I'd be interested to hear your comments on what Hastings said about Palin.

It's not about her foreign policy - it's about her incoherent ramblings when she isn't being carefully scripted.

I'll take that to mean you don't want to comment on what Hastings said.

OK.
