Barbra Streisand and THE Obama Hollywood Fundraiser

UPDATE, September 17, 2008: Watch Obama's $9 million Speech
________________

Obama, can you hear me?
Obama, can you see me?
Obama, can you find me in the night?
Obama, are you near me?
Obama, can you hear me?
Obama, can you help me not be frightened?

Tonight's the night!

Barbra Streisand will be among the headliners at a fund-raiser for Barack Obama on Sept. 16, where she will perform for the presidential candidate at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.

...Streisand confirmed that she would take the stage. The hotel ballroom holds an estimated 700 people.

Obama's fund-raiser is expected to be his final visit to raise money here before the general election.

Obama will start the evening with a 5 p.m. dinner event for about 250 people at Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills, the historic estate once owned by the legendary Doheny family. Tickets for the event are $28,500.

Later, he will attend a reception at the Beverly Wilshire, followed by Streisand's special performance. Tickets for the event are $2,500 per person.

Co-hosts for event include the DreamWorks team of Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen, as well as political consultant Andy Spahn. It's also being organized with Obama's Southern California finance team.

More.
How does Barack Obama lure wealthy donors to a big-money fundraiser in Hollywood? Bring in Barbra Streisand as the headline performer.

The Oscar-winning singer and actress was to perform Tuesday night on Obama’s behalf in Beverly Hills. It was to be a two-step evening with a reception and dinner costing $28,500 a person followed by a later event featuring Streisand at $2,500 a ticket.

Obama was flying to Los Angeles after an appearance Tuesday morning in a Denver suburb.

The wealthy fundraiser comes on a day when the crisis in the U.S. economy remained an urgent issue for many Americans. Monday’s sharp sell-off left the Dow Jones industrials and the Standard & Poor’s 500 index down by more 4 percent, eroding the value of individual retirement and investment accounts, for example.

As the little people lose their jobs and fears about the economy weigh heavy on many Americans, Obama, with Babs assisting, will be raking in millions of dollars at the mother of all fundraisers.

THIS IS IMPORTANT: Remember that Obama is just like us, "ordinary folks," struggling to pay off college loans and shopping at Target.

I want to know if Obama will have his half-brother, George Hussein Onyango Obama, at the event.

George could use a night out.

Dinesh D'Souza writes:

So why aren't the networks covering the fact that Barack Obama's half-brother George lives in a 6 by 10 foot hut in the slums of Kenya? It took a reporter for the Italian edition of Vanity Fair to locate George Obama. Obama noted that when he met his famous half-brother in 2006 “we spoke for just a few minutes. It was like meeting a complete stranger.” George Obama also told the magazine that “I live here on less than a dollar month,” and “if anyone says something about my surname, I say we are not related. I am ashamed.” Obama has done absolutely nothing to help his unfortunate half-brother.

Alas, George won't be there. I don't know that with metaphysical certitude, but I feel confident in saying it. George Hussein Onyango Obama won't be there.

I hope the celebrities at Obama's fundraiser think about George, assuming they know about him. They may not.

I hope Obama takes a moment to think about George, his own flesh and blood, as Babs croons to the tune of $28,500 per person.

I'm sure the fundraiser will include many comments about how terribly the American people and people around the world are suffering, and how only Obama can deliver us from this nightmare.

No doubt, the attendees will feel good about themselves. They're donating big bucks (a drop in the bucket to them) to rid the country and the world of the evil caused by the evil George W. Bush and the evil John McCain and that evil serpent-trusting, apple-eating Sarah Palin.

No doubt, the attendees will feel good about what they're doing for us, the victims.

No doubt, Obama will feel especially good tonight. And brother George won't cross his mind.

____________

QUESTION: Will Obama use a teleprompter when he addresses his followers at his Hollywood elite fundraiser?

How did Obama make all of his personal money? He nor his wife have ever produced anything. Now he hobnobs with all of the rich people rather than those he claims to represent.

From USA Today:

Soon after her husband joined the Senate in 2005, Michelle Obama — who a month earlier had been promoted to her current job — was named to the board of TreeHouse Foods. Wal-Mart is among the company's largest customers. Sen. Obama had been critical of the retail giant's labor practices. Michelle Obama received $51,200 for her board activities in 2006, according to the Obamas' tax return.

The couple's 2006 income was $991,296, including her TreeHouse compensation, investments and royalties from his books. Sen. Obama earned $157,082 in Senate salary last year and his wife earned $273,618 from the University of Chicago Hospitals, his campaign said last month.

Just ordinary folks. Regular blue-collar people.
