Obama: Limbaugh, Fluke, Sasha, and Malia

During his press conference yesterday, Obama explained why he called Sandra Fluke, the 30-year-old Georgetown law student and activist.

Obama wasn't asked about the phone call, but he talked about it anyway. I think he spent a lot of time rehearsing and preparing for a "Fluke phone call" question, so he worked it in.

White House Transcript:

Q Thank you, Mr. President. Do you believe Rush Limbaugh's apology to the Georgetown law student was sufficient and heartfelt? Do you agree with the decision of the growing number of sponsors that have decided to drop his show or stop supporting his show? And has there been a double standard on this issue? Liberal commentators have made similarly provocative or distasteful statements and there hasn't been such an outrage.

THE PRESIDENT: I'm not going to comment on what sponsors decide to do. I'm not going to comment on either the economics or the politics of it. I don't know what's in Rush Limbaugh's heart, so I'm not going to comment on the sincerity of his apology. What I can comment on is the fact that all decent folks can agree that the remarks that were made don't have any place in the public discourse.

And the reason I called Ms. Fluke is because I thought about Malia and Sasha, and one of the things I want them to do as they get older is to engage in issues they care about, even ones I may not agree with them on. I want them to be able to speak their mind in a civil and thoughtful way. And I don't want them attacked or called horrible names because they're being good citizens. And I wanted Sandra to know that I thought her parents should be proud of her, and that we want to send a message to all our young people that being part of a democracy involves argument and disagreements and debate, and we want you to be engaged, and there's a way to do it that doesn't involve you being demeaned and insulted, particularly when you’re a private citizen.

Nauseating.

Obama thought about his daughters, Malia and Sasha.

He doesn't want women to be attacked.

Really?

Obama wants "our young people" to know that they can be engaged in democracy without being demeaned and insulted.

Oh.

Has Obama called Sarah Palin?

She is a private citizen, and she has endured unspeakable attacks and been called horrible names.

Her children have been slimed mercilessly.

But Obama was compelled to call Sandra Fluke, for Malia and Sasha.

Palin? No.

Obama says he doesn't know what's in Rush Limbaugh's heart.

We have an idea of what's in Obama's heart. We have indications of the sort of person he is.
---Obama takes $1 million from the vile Bill Maher, misogynist.

---Obama will attend the Correspondents' Association dinner and laugh at Louis CK. The comments he made about Sarah Palin and her little boy, Trig, should have disqualified him from ever being chosen to be the headlining entertainer at that event. Certainly, Obama shouldn't be in the same room with the likes of Louis CK.

---Obama mocks Special Olympics athletes.

Yes, we have a good idea of what's in Obama's heart.

I guess when he's making fun of Special Olympics athletes or accepting money from Bill Maher or laughing at Louis CK he doesn't think of Sasha and Malia.

Then, he doesn't care who gets hurt.
