Archie Brown Jr. and Rasheed Chiles Murdered in Milwaukee

This is horrific.

Two-year-old Damani Terry died after running into the street and being struck by a vehicle.

The driver, Archie Brown Jr., 41, stayed at the scene of the accident.

Brown and Rasheed Chiles, 15, brother of Damani, were both murdered in the aftermath.

Archie Brown Jr. was driving to Home Depot on Sunday with a friend when he hit and struck a 2-year-old boy with his van, his family said. Moments later, he lay dying, shot in the head as he tried to help the child, according to police and family members.

A 15-year-old boy, Rasheed T. Chiles, was also shot and later died at a hospital, Milwaukee police say.

“He was a good man,” Brown's sister, Qianna Brown, 34, told the Los Angeles Times on Monday. Brown had four daughters; his youngest is 6 months old, she said. He would often round up his kids and hers and take them out -- to state fairs, on shopping trips or to the park. “He was a tender-hearted person, so I know he was there and probably wanted to pick the baby up. I know he must have been crying.”

According to police, Rasheed and 2-year-old Damani T. Terry were attending a party at a house nearby. The toddler ran into the street and was struck by Brown's van about 5:10 p.m. Sunday, police said.

Brown was "distraught about hitting the child, stopped and exited the van immediately," witnesses told police officials, who called it an accident. Moments later, Brown and Rasheed were shot by an "unknown suspect," authorities said.

Brown was pronounced dead at the scene, and Rasheed later died at the hospital, according to police. Police say they are working to identify the shooting suspect, and that the investigation is ongoing.

Brown's father, Archie Brown Sr., said he spoke at the scene to police, who showed him a photo of his son's body, and told him he had been shot "more than once."

"It was terrible," Brown's father told The Times. "I'm sorry about what happened to the other family, too. ... But nobody wins in that situation."

Qianna Brown said a witness told her family that after her brother hit the toddler, a man went into a house, retrieved a gun, and then shot Brown in the head.

Three people are dead. One died ACCIDENTALLY. Two were murdered in cold blood.

The killer is not in custody. I hope people with information about the whereabouts of the murderer do the right thing and cooperate with police.

This man is a murderer, a threat to society. This vicious man took the life of a father of four. He took the life of the dead two-year-old's brother.

Do black lives matter?

Hands up, don't shoot.

Right.

I want to see protests and national outrage over these murders.

Does Nate Hamilton have anything to say?

Will Bill Penzey write a screed condemning the murderer?

Of course, Tom Barrett will express his anger and demand legislation from Madison.

Same old, same old.

Starbucks CEO Meeting With Dontre Hamilton Family

Howard Schultz, Starbucks CEO, is coming to Milwaukee to meet with the family of Dontre Hamilton.

Starbucks chief executive officer Howard Schultz is coming to Milwaukee, meeting with the family of an unarmed man shot and killed by police in front of the coffee chain's Red Arrow Park location downtown.

A company spokeswoman said by email, "Howard Schultz is planning to meet with Dontre Hamilton’s family in Milwaukee. As this is a private conversation of the family, we are not sharing any additional details."

...Schultz's visit comes as the Seattle-based coffee chain embarks on its "Race Together" campaign, designed to stimulate conversation around race-related issues. The nationwide campaign has been the subject of criticism and even scorn since its debut last week. The company is hoping to get people in the U.S. to talk about race relations by holding employee forums and encouraging baristas to write "Race Together" on coffee cups.

So Schultz is continuing his "race together" mission by coming to Milwaukee.

I hope Schultz asks Nate Hamilton, Dontre's brother, about his incendiary remarks, casting Milwaukee police officers as pigs and murderers and racists.

NATE HAMILTON: We need to protect each other. We need to stop the violence in our communities, so we can get rid of these pigs that kill us.

Will Schultz meet with Milwaukee police officers while he's here?

I was just commenting last night that the anti-police protesters had fallen silent.

While I feel bad for the customers and employees of Starbucks, I'm glad the anti-police protesters stayed off the freeway.

Jesse Jackson: Milwaukee Bad For Black Families

Supposedly, the Dontre Hamilton case brought Democrat Jesse Jackson to Milwaukee on Friday.

In reality, Jackson was a pushing an agenda that was much more far-reaching.

According to Jackson, Milwaukee is a hotbed of racism, oppression, and police brutality.

Jesse Jackson will be in Milwaukee today to reinvigorate the anti-police contingent.

Rev. Jesse Jackson and his Rainbow/PUSH Coalition will be in Milwaukee on Friday, January 2nd. A rally is planned for Friday afternoon. Demonstrators will meet in downtown Milwaukee’s Red Arrow Park in support of Dontre Hamilton.

...The United States Attorney has announced the United States Department of Justice will undertake a federal review of this case to determine if, under federal civil rights law, there is a basis, both legal and factual, upon which a federal civil rights prosecution may be premised. This review will be conducted by the FBI, the Office of the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, and the Civil Rights Division.

One of the family’s attorneys says they’ve had several discussions with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and they believe that a federal investigation will prove their case and they hope to see charges.

Hamilton’s family attorney says a civil lawsuit is also currently in the works.

This is what makes no sense.

The U.S. Department of Justice is doing a federal review of the case, AND a civil lawsuit is "in the works."

Sounds like the system is working as it should.

Why shut down the freeway?

It's not as if the Hamilton family is being denied access to seek what they believe is justice.

Why is Jesse Jackson's assistance necessary?

...Last Saturday, December 27th, Dontre Hamilton’s family members and members of the Coalition for Justice made a trip to Chicago to join Rev. Jackson and the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition for a rally. Rev. Jackson has promised to work with the family and help shine a national spotlight on the case.

...The Coalition for Justice has been organizing demonstrations since Hamilton was shot and killed. Most of those demonstrations have taken place in Red Arrow Park and in downtown Milwaukee. On a couple of occasions, protesters have been arrested after making their way to Milwaukee County’s freeway system.

The most recent arrests came last Friday, December 26th when members of “Occupy the Hood” hosted a demonstration, gathering near 26th and Burleigh.

Seventy-four protesters were arrested when they made their way to I-43 on December 19th.

This past Monday, December 29th — one week after Chisholm announced his decision, a group of protesters held a news conference, saying they believe they’re being punished and intimidated just for exercising their First Amendment rights.

HEY! YOU CAN'T WALK ON THE FREEWAY AND SHUT IT DOWN!

Engaging in that behavior should result in arrest.

It's ridiculous to claim such a dangerous stunt is a First Amendment right.

The "Occupy the Hood" movement has been around for years. It's a national thing, brought to you by the "Occupy Wall Street" anarchists.

Bill Thao, 13-Month-Old, Shot and Killed

Another innocent child in Milwaukee is dead.

A 13-month-old boy was not killed by a gun. He was killed by the thug who fired the gun into his home.

Suabna Xiong sat in a chair in her kitchen Sunday morning, crying and clutching the neatly folded clothes that belonged to her 13-month-old son, Bill Thao, who was shot and killed Saturday night when someone fired several gunshots into a northwest-side Milwaukee home.

As relatives comforted her in the family's small kitchen, her husband, Thao Somboon, tried to make sense of what had happened Saturday night in the home of a relative — the lower level of a duplex just north of the W. Mill Road branch of the Division of Motor Vehicles.

"The doctors tried to stop the bleeding, but we were told the bullet had severed an artery," Somboon said. "They could not stop the bleeding."

The killing of the boy in the 6400 block of N. 73rd St. comes at the end of an already deadly year for children in Milwaukee. Sierra Guyton, a 10-year-old girl, was shot on a playground on May 21 and died July 13. And just last month, a 5-year-old girl was killed inside a home. Laylah Peterson was sitting on her grandfather's lap Nov. 6 when she was struck by gunfire and died.

...At least five shootings occurred Saturday night in Milwaukee leaving several adults injured, as well as killing 13-month-old Bill Thao. Police are planning to hold a news conference Sunday afternoon with Mayor Tom Barrett at the scene of the homicide.

So, little Bill Thao can't breathe. He's dead, like little Sierra Guyton and little Laylah Peterson.

Will protesters shut down I-43 because of this?

Will people like Nate Hamilton demand, "We need to take our communities back. We need to protect our own communities ... so we can get rid of these pigs that kill us"?

Three innocent little children were gunned down. Dead.

Where's the outrage?

Where are the t-shirts?

Are professional athletes standing in solidarity with these murdered little ones, staging high-profile protests?

Are members of the Congressional Black Caucus making the "Hands up, don't shoot" gesture on the floor of the House to draw attention to the murders of these children?

Of course not.

“Hands up, don’t shoot. It’s a rallying cry of people all across America who are fed up with police violence,” Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) said as he took the floor. “In community, after community, after community, fed up with police violence in Ferguson, in Brooklyn, in Cleveland, in Oakland, in cities and counties and rural communities all across America.”

On the same night that a 1-year-old boy was shot and killed in a Milwaukee home, four other shootings in the city left several other people injured.

The first shooting occurred at 5:20 p.m., when a 38-year-old man was injured during a robbery attempt in the 200 block of E. Burleigh St., police said in a news release.

The fatal shooting of the 13-month-old boy occurred about an hour later. He was struck by gunfire aimed from the street into a duplex in the 6400 block of N. 73rd St. The boy died later at the hospital.

Later Saturday night, two more shootings occurred 20 minutes apart. A 34-year-old man was seriously injured when an argument erupted in gunfire around 11:30 p.m. in the 600 block of W. Hadley St. A suspect was arrested at the scene. And at 11:50 p.m., a 19-year-old was shot and seriously injured in the 1500 block of S. Cesar Chavez Drive.

Then at 1:20 a.m. Sunday, a 27-year-old woman showed up at a hospital with a gunshot wound after she was hit while driving at 48th St. and Villard Ave., police said. She and the other adult shooting victims are expected to survive.

Police didn't shoot these people.

A police officer didn't kill Bill Thao.

I am certain that police responded to every one of these crimes.

They came to help, yet they are the ones being demonized.

Bottom line: I'm truly angry that the police are being vilified by celebrities, professional athletes, race baiting "civil rights leaders," elected officials, appointed officials, and Obama.

Jesse Jackson is going to use his celebrity to draw attention to the Dontre Hamilton case in Milwaukee.

"Killing a man for resting in a park is not justifiable," Hamilton's brother Nate Hamilton said Saturday. "We stand with all the families. We cannot sleep on injustice."

Reverend Jackson reminded the crowd of various cases of officer-involved deaths nationwide, mentioning Michael Brown and Eric Garner. But Jackson focused much of his attention during the second half of his sermon on Wisconsin, referencing Hamilton, Derek Williams and Frank Jude.

"There is, in Milwaukee, a pattern of blacks being killed by police," Jackson said.

"It's a systemic cancer that exists in Milwaukee and we need the nation and the world to know and to stand with us," State Senator Lena Taylor said.

Jackson claims, "There is, in Milwaukee, a pattern of blacks being killed by police."

What?

Lena Taylor says, "It's a systemic cancer that exists in Milwaukee and we need the nation and the world to know and to stand with us."

That is insane.

Police are NOT systematically murdering people of any color in Milwaukee.

Officers must be held responsible for the way they perform on the job. If wrongdoing has been committed by an officer, I want that officer to be held accountable.

Dontre Hamilton's family has every right to use legal channels to pursue what they believe would be justice. I support that.

But don't tell me there's a "pattern of blacks being killed by police" in Milwaukee.

Jackson and Taylor aren't doing anything for little Bill Thao or little Sierra Guyton or little Laylah Peterson or the dozens and dozens and dozens of others shot in Milwaukee.

Jackson and Taylor and everyone else in the anti-police movement are disgraceful.

Nate Hamilton: 'Get Rid of Pigs' (Video)

Hamilton's brother Nate spoke bitterly, saying the family had "cried too long."

"We don't have to be the voice of reason," he said. He called on people to stand with the family "so we can get rid of these pigs that kill us. Because that's what they are."

First, everyone should be held accountable for their actions.

If a police officer has committed wrongdoing on the job, he or she should face the consequences. Justice should be done. It's right to fight for justice within the law.

That said, Nate Hamilton's rhetoric, his horrible choice of words, is inexcusable; especially when placed in the context of the NYPD assassinations and Brinsley's promise, "I'm putting wings on pigs today" before he killed Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu.



On this video, Hamilton says, "He (Officer Christopher Manney) massacred my brother. He stood there and looked at him. He sized him up and he killed him with hate. He killed him with intent."

Hamilton's "pigs" line is not included in this video, even though AP reports the quote.

At 2:53, there is a break in the video. Why the edit?

Where's video of Hamilton delivering his "get rid of these pigs that kill us" line?

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel also reports Hamilton's "pigs" quote.

Speaking to supporters outside the Federal Courthouse, Nate Hamilton, brother of Dontre Hamilton, said he and the other family members will remain strong, won't waver and won't turn their backs on injustice.

"We deserve justice," he said. "Justice is our right."

The decision appeared to evoke a sense of anger in Nate Hamilton that had not been seen in earlier protests. At one point on the courthouse steps he said, "We need to take our communities back. We need to protect our own communities ... so we can get rid of these pigs that kill us."

John Chisholm and Dontre Hamilton : No Criminal Charges

It was obvious that John Chisholm was going to announce that he would seek no criminal charges against Officer Christopher Manney for the shooting of Dontre Hamilton.

Today, he finally did.

The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office released a report on Monday morning, December 22nd that indicates former Milwaukee Police Officer Christopher Manney‘s “use of force” in the shooting death of 31-year-old Dontre Hamilton was “justified self-defense and that defense cannot be reasonably overcome to establish a basis to charge Officer Manney with a crime.”

On April 30th, Hamilton was sleeping in Red Arrow Park. Then-Officer Christopher Manney was performing a welfare check, and police say Hamilton grabbed Manney’s baton and struck him with it. That’s when Christopher Manney opened fire, shooting Hamilton 14 times.

Local media seem to be waiting for the city to explode.

I'm glad I don't have tickets to take kids to The Nutcracker today, across the street from Red Arrow Park. I'm sure there are many anxious people, worried about what the agitators might do.

It's sad that the ice rink and Starbucks were closed, but understandable given the national efforts by race baiters, sometimes called "civil rights leaders," and their minions to escalate violence against police. It would be irresponsible to let the general public get caught in that mess.

Of course, Hamilton's family and their legal counsel will continue to push for a federal investigation.

Operating within the law is their right. They should do what they need to do WITHIN THE LAW.

Standing on the freeway and blocking traffic, like Hamilton's family did last Friday, is NOT within the law.

It is the duty of the Milwaukee Police Department, and the National Guard if necessary, to keep the peace.

I expect them to take measures to protect the public from the violent actions of protesters/thugs.

Let's be honest. Some Leftists hate the police. They are promoting violence against them.

Others want to politically capitalize on the Hamilton case.

So, there are agitators in the streets and agitators online.

I do think that the assassination of two NYPD officers on Saturday afternoon by Ismaaiyl "#ShootThe Police" Brinsley, an "I Can't Breathe" guy, has heightened concern for the safety of police and the public from these thugs.

The assassinations have brought attention to the irresponsible rhetoric coming from Obama and Eric Holder and Bill de Blasio, as well as race baiters like Al Sharpton and NAACP officials.

WHAT DO WE WANT?

DEAD COPS.



No one deserves blind support, including the police.

However, I think it's safe to assume that the overwhelming majority of southeastern Wisconsin residents support the good guys, the police.

Two NYPD officers, Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu, were assassinated by an "I Can't Breathe" type of guy, Ismaaiyl Brinsley.

Brinsley used hashtags, like #ShootThePolice, #RIPMikeBrown and #RIPErivGardner (Eric Garner).

A gunman who announced online that he was planning to shoot two "pigs" in retaliation for the police chokehold death of Eric Garner ambushed two officers in a patrol car and shot them to death in broad daylight Saturday before running to a subway station and killing himself, authorities said.

The suspect, 28-year-old Ismaaiyl Brinsley, wrote on an Instagram account: "I'm putting wings on pigs today. They take 1 of ours, let's take 2 of theirs," officials said. He used the hashtags Shootthepolice RIPErivGardner (sic) RIPMikeBrown.

Police said he approached the passenger window of a marked police car and opened fire, striking Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu in the head. The New York Police Department officers were on special patrol doing crime reduction work in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn.

I agree that there's blood on many hands.

The president of the NYPD union slammed Mayor Bill de Blasio in reaction to the deaths of two officers who were ambushed and gunned down in their patrol car in broad daylight Saturday in Brooklyn.

"There's blood on many hands tonight," Patrolman's Benevolent Association President Patrick Lynch said late Saturday. "Those that incited violence on this street under the guise of protest, that tried to tear down what New York City police officers did everyday.

"We tried to warn it must not go on, it cannot be tolerated," Lynch continued. "That blood on the hands starts on the steps of city hall in the office of the mayor."

Also on Saturday evening, video obtained by the New York Post showed several officers turning their backs on the mayor as he made his way down a hallway at Woodhull Hospital in Brooklyn, where Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu had earlier been pronounced dead. The Post also reported that earlier in the evening, de Blasio approached a group of officers outside the hospital and told them, "We're all in this together."

I understand Clarke's anger.

This anti-police narrative that local and national leaders, as well as the protesters across the country, have been pushing has deadly consequences.

Two good men are dead.

That's right. Demonize the police, Milwaukee County Supervisors.

Of course, Obama, Eric Holder, Bill de Blasio, Al Sharpton, and those of their ilk did not assassinate the NYPD officers on Saturday afternoon.

One man did - Brinsley.

But it's undeniable that the irresponsible, reckless remarks and assorted stunts by Obama and crew have mattered, a lot.

Protests over the fatal police shooting of Dontre Hamilton produced mass arrests in Milwaukee for the first time Friday as demonstrators temporarily closed I-43 in both directions during the evening rush hour.

The Milwaukee County sheriff's office said late Friday that 73 adults and one juvenile were arrested. After the scene cleared at I-43, about 100 people picketed outside the Milwaukee Police Administration Building.

The protesters were calling for justice in the case of Hamilton — who was fatally shot by a Milwaukee police officer during a confrontation at Red Arrow Park — and pledged to stay downtown until those who were arrested on the freeway were released.

Among the protesters outside the Police Administration Building were Dontre Hamilton's brother Nathaniel Hamilton and mother, Maria Hamilton.

"We're still peaceful," Nathaniel Hamilton said. "Nothing is burning. Nothing is torn down. No one's hurt. I don't want them to think being disruptive is being violent."

Sorry, Nate. This wasn't peaceful.

This was terribly dangerous.

No one's hurt? That's BS. Preventing people from getting where they need to be is serious.

I want to alert the public of information that has come to our attention regarding the potential of disruptive tactics. A credible source has informed us that several anarchist groups led by outside persons, are gathering in the Milwaukee area to plan disruptive activities both before and after the decision by Milwaukee County DA John Chisholm regarding the Dontre Hamilton case. The information indicates that the groups have exploited the tragic situation involving the death of Mr. Hamilton, to destabilize daily activities of law-abiding citizens in public and private spaces open to the public. This includes the use of blockades on the interstate system and around other roadways to prevent law enforcement from responding quickly to emergency situations. These leftist groups use the tactic of hiding among legitimate peaceful protestors to conduct their illegitimate campaign.

I believe the anarchist loons are here waiting to exploit the situation.

Ed Flynn: Send Him To Ferguson

As the nation braces for the violence we've been told is guaranteed to erupt in Ferguson, and perhaps around the country, The Right Scoop takes note of comments made by Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn on November 6.

Two Co-sleeping Deaths In Milwaukee - THIS WEEK

The Milwaukee Health Department provides some important information for parents and caregivers.

Like: The City of Milwaukee Health Department strongly advises parents NOT to share a bed with their infant.

Sadly, many people are not getting the "Safe Sleep for Your Baby" memo.  And if they're getting it, they're ignoring it.

In spite of efforts to educate the public on giving their infants a safe sleeping environment, babies are still dying in Milwaukee due to bad choices.

Two babies have died in suspected co-sleeping incidents this week alone.

For the second time this week, a young baby boy in Milwaukee died after apparently getting crushed while sleeping with his mother.

A one-month-old child was pronounced dead around 8 a.m. Thursday at a home on the city's north side.

The Milwaukee County medical examiner's office said it was investigating.

On Monday, a 10-day old boy died after he reportedly was co-sleeping with his mother and a sibling.

The prevalence of co-sleeping deaths in Milwaukee has been an issue since at least 2009!

Those babies who died in 2009 would be in kindergarten by now.

Oh, well.

Sometimes bad things happen as a result of making bad choices. 

Go to sleep. Smother your baby to death. It happens.

Maybe some protests are in order. Get the Dontre Hamilton crowd to stage a demonstration.

Would blocking a freeway ramp get people to stop smothering their babies?

Ed Flynn and a Five-Year-Old Milwaukee Girl Shot, Killed

In Milwaukee yesterday evening, A five-year-old little girl was shot and killed.

Milwaukee police said a 5-year-old girl who was shot in the head near 58th Street and Fairmount Avenue about 6:20 p.m. Thursday has died.

Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn said two young children were watching television on the couch with their grandparents when bullets came through the window.

Flynn said they've had no calls to the home, and he has no idea why two people would walk up to the home and open fire.

“There is no reason conceivable that I can think of that would explain this violent remorseless act. I have no idea what was in the minds of these actors. What I do know is that we're going to find them. We're going to arrest them, and they're going to go to jail,” he said.

..."This wasn't even a shootout between two idiots. This was a targeted shooting at this house, for reasons yet unknown," Flynn said.

My God.

Why this house?

That is yet to be determined. There are a lot of unanswered questions, but we know a five-year-old was killed.

I wonder if her killers feel a little bad about it. Are they proud of themselves? Do they care at all? Are they so without feeling, soulless, that they can shrug something like this off?

I think so. You don't open fire on a house like that if you have any concern for innocent human life.

The shooters are evil.

Are the same people who are staging protest after protest, and recognizing the monthly anniversaries of the shooting of Dontre Hamilton going to put the same energy into expressing their outrage over this innocent little girl's murder?

Highly unlikely.

Both Dontre Hamilton supporters and Milwaukee police officers showed up to a Fire and Police Commission meeting Thursday night, and shouts erupted.

Chief Ed Flynn was under attack from two opposing groups. The police union is upset with him for firing Christopher Manney, the officer who shot and killed Dontre Hamilton.

Hamilton supporters are upset the officer has not been arrested and charged. All of this erupted inside the Fire and Police Commission meeting - where the chief had learned a five year old had been shot.

...They blasted Chief Flynn and fired Officer Christopher Manney.

...It went on for minutes with the Fire and Police Commission trying to bring control to the chaos.

And one point the crowd started yelling at Chief Flynn for looking at his cell phone until he explained he was getting updates about a five year old who had been shot.

"I'm sorry if you find it offensive," said Flynn, 'I'm keeping up with the developments of the shooting of a five year old."

What a mess!

Clearly, firing Christopher Manney didn't pacify the Hamilton supporters. They're screaming at Flynn. Because of his decision, he's underfire from his officers as well.

The idea that firing Manney would be a good solution to the case has been shown to be a terrible one.

And while all this yelling is going on, Flynn is taking updates on the shooting of a five-year-old in her home.

I wonder how Flynn managed to keep it together. That had to be extremely difficult.

Flynn was angry with the people yelling at him for being on his phone during the meeting, and rightly so.

"The fact is that the people out here, some of them who had the most to say, are absolutely MIA when it comes to the true threats facing this community and it gets a little tiresome. And when you start getting yelled at for reading the updates of the kid that got shot. Yeah, you take it personal!"

I want to see protests organized by members of the community calling for an end to the sort violence that resulted in the murder of that little girl. I want to see them COOPERATE with police to get these thugs locked up and off the streets.

That, of course, is not going to happen. As Flynn said, they are MIA.

The focus on getting Manney while the murderers of children are ignored reveals a very disturbing tunnel vision on the part of the Hamilton supporters.

So will Tom Barrett stage one of his "I'm outraged" events?

I suppose.

And the people will keep demanding "justice" for Dontre Hamilton, and the officers will continue to be angry with Flynn, and more little ones will lose their lives because thugs are allowed to terrorize neighborhoods in part because people in the community refuse to cooperate with police.

Seems hopeless, doesn't it?

Once upon a time, parents actually behaved responsibly and made an effort to raise their children not to be thugs.

The flyer has gone viral since it was first seen in Wisconsin, then shot across the Internet, from Arizona-based radio host James T. Harris, to Wisconsin’s Daily Independent. The flyer shows photos of Michael Brown, Trayvon Martin, and Dontre Hamilton; under each is a caption saying, e.g., “Michael Brown can’t vote,” with the overall slogan: “Don’t let anyone silence your voice. Vote Nov. 4th.”

I miss James T. Harris, but I'm glad to see that he's still making a difference here in Wisconsin.

Ed Flynn: 99.3% NO CONFIDENCE

The results are in.

Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn received a no confidence vote of 99.3% from members of the Milwaukee Police Association.

Usually, the media give a lot of weight to actions by unions. In this case, however, there seems to be an effort to minimize the significance of the vote.

No surprise there, I suppose.

In a news conference Friday morning, the police union would not announce how many officers voted. But officials says it was a majority of the force. Union President Mike Crivello said many officers were too afraid of retribution to cast their ballots.

“We all know a ‘no confidence’ vote is not binding. But there absolutely is an expectation that the mayor’s office would take great notice, the Common Council, certainly the public safety committee and more so than anybody, the Fire and Police Commission would take notice that such a large majority of the force does not have confidence in their leadership,” said Crivello.

Former Milwaukee Mayor John Norquist gave his support to Flynn.

A no-confidence vote of Police Chief Edward Flynn is a 'badge of honor' for the chief, according to a former Milwaukee mayor.

"You want a chief that has enough courage, and stands up for what he/she believes in," John Norquist told Newsradio 620 WTMJ. "I don't think it's a poor reflection on Ed Flynn. I think Flynn is better than any police chief I ever appointed."

I don't remember the last time Norquist publicly commented on Milwaukee politics. Who cares what he thinks? Not me.

Tom Barrett reacted to the vote in typical Barrett fashion.

“This tactic by the leadership of the Milwaukee Police Association is not surprising. At a time when the citizens of Milwaukee are dealing with the aftermath of the Red Arrow Park shooting, the MPA leadership is trying to stoke a political fire. The brave men and women of the Milwaukee Police Department and the citizens of the Milwaukee deserve better. I have complete confidence in Police Chief Flynn and the hard-working members of the rank and file.”

Blame the MPA leadership.

This is a political matter, but I don't think it's necessarily politically motivated.

Isn't it possible that Milwaukee police officers aren't satisfied with Flynn's leadership?

Something may have political ramifications but that doesn't mean it's automatically nothing more than a political stunt.

If I had been able to cast a vote, I definitely would have voted no confidence in Flynn.

He's really changed. It's as if he's giving up.
