Jeffrey Williams Recants Confession

"Never mind," so says Jeffery Williams, the man apprehended for shooting two police officers in Ferguson.

The suspect charged with shooting two police officers during a demonstration in Ferguson, Mo., last week is now recanting a confession that he was the gunman, his lawyer told Yahoo News on Tuesday.

“He told me that he never fired a weapon,” said Jerryl T. Christmas, attorney for Jeffrey Williams.

Christmas said Williams, 20, was scared and in a “tremendous amount of pain,” having allegedly been pistol-whipped before being questioned by detectives.

“I think under those circumstances he would have said anything,” Christmas said. “Anytime someone is questioned without counsel and then I see that kind of bruising, then I'm suspicious about any statements that he may have voluntarily given.”

...St. Louis County police have denied the abuse allegations for two days. On Tuesday, a department spokesman again called the accusations “completely false” without offering any potential explanation for apparent marks in Williams’ booking photograph.

...Complicating Williams’ retraction is that he didn’t just admit being the shooter to police. On Sunday and Monday, St. Louis pastor and Ferguson activist Derrick Robinson told reporters that Williams expressed remorse to him during a jailhouse visit.

“He told me that he shouldn't have done it," Robinson told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “He was embarrassed.”

Williams' lawyer probably told him that the U.S. Department of Justice and the president of the United States are on his side.

Go ahead. Recant.

I'm sure a good portion of those police-hating, "Hands up, don't shoot" people consider the actions of the Ferguson shooter to be understandable.

Williams claims he accidentally shot two police officers. He says he was targeting someone else.

Reality is irrelevant in Ferguson.

If we've learned anything, it's that it doesn't matter what really happened.

A 20-year-old suspect was charged Sunday with shooting two police officers during a protest outside Police Headquarters here Thursday. Law enforcement officials said the man, Jeffrey L. Williams, claimed to have been targeting someone other than the officers and shot them by accident from inside a car.

During a protest, you're trying to shoot someone and then you mistakenly hit two cops.

Williams was really unlucky, wasn't he?

Mr. Williams was arrested late Saturday and charged with first-degree assault in connection with the shooting, which had ratcheted up tensions between the police and protesters here. With the gunman at large, the officers guarding the police station as demonstrations continued had concerns for their safety, while protesters had criticized police officials for suggesting that the shooting was linked to them.

Right. This shooting wasn't linked to the protesters. Of course, not. Why would anyone think that?

...The arrest seemed to resolve almost none of the tension, and Mr. Williams’s motive was unclear. Prosecutors expressed skepticism at his version of events, but said he had attended the demonstration the evening of the shooting as well as previous rallies. Several protest leaders, however, quickly took to Twitter to deny that Mr. Williams was one of them, or that they had even seen him among the crowd the night of the shooting.

That makes them look stupid, because he was.

The authorities said Mr. Williams, who was on probation at the time of the shooting for receiving stolen property, admitted his involvement to investigators and acknowledged firing the shots. He told investigators that he had a dispute with some people outside the police station that had nothing to do with the demonstration, officials said.

“It’s possible at this point that he was firing shots at someone other than the police, but struck the police officers,” Robert P. McCulloch, the prosecuting attorney for St. Louis County, said at a news conference Sunday afternoon at the Buzz Westfall Justice Center in Clayton, Mo., the seat of St. Louis County. “He has stated that he may have had a dispute with some other individuals. I’m not sure we completely buy that part of it. But in any event, it’s possible he was firing at some other people.”

Sure, it's possible that Williams was firing at someone else.

He certainly picked a weird place to attempt to shoot someone. It's not too smart to commit a crime in front of a line of police officers.

Mr. McCulloch added: “We’re not 100 percent sure that there was a dispute. That’s part of the claim right now. It’s possible that there was a dispute. It’s possible that he was targeting police officers. We just have to wait for the investigation to develop.”

Maybe there was a dispute. Maybe Williams was trying to shoot someone other than a cop.

But, he was at an anti-police protest and just happened to shoot two police officers.

We'll see what the investigation reveals.

To quote Hillary Clinton, "What difference, at this point, does it make?"

The truth doesn't matter.

Obama and Eric Holder and Bill de Blasio and those like disregard facts. They have conducted themselves in a manner that encourages people to lash out at police. They certainly haven't taken steps to relieve tension.

Will Jeffrey Williams be vilified in the media for his actions? Will his name and his face be synonymous with hatred?

Will Obama condemn Williams? Will Obama at least say Williams "acted stupidly"? Remember when Obama declared that "the Cambridge police acted stupidly"?

I'd be surprised.

Having the shooter in custody is a good thing. Unfortunately, getting this one crazed shooter off the streets, the guy who says he meant to shoot someone other than police officers, does nothing to dispel the months and months of anti-police rhetoric and rallies.

Obama Tweets Response to Ferguson Shootings

Two police officers in Ferguson were shot during a protest rally.

Thankfully, their injuries are not life threatening. But, the thug or thugs responsible for firing at the police easily could have killed them.

What does Obama do in response to this outrageous violence against law enforcement?

NY Cop Killings and Sharpton Backlash

The race baiters, the ones AP calls "civil rights leaders," fear a backlash after Officer Rafael Ramos, 40, and Officer Wenjian Liu, 32, were assassinated by Ismaaiyl Brinsley, user of hashtags like #ShootThePolice, #RIPMikeBrown and #RIPErivGardner (Eric Garner).

Civil rights leaders Sunday condemned the ambush killings of two New York police officers and expressed fear that the backlash over the bloodshed could derail the protest movement that has grown out of the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner.

In the raw hours following the killing of the officers, police union officials and politicians accused those who have protested the deaths of Garner and Brown of fanning anti-police fervor. Patrick Lynch, president of the Patrolman's Benevolent Association in New York, said there was "blood on the hands" of demonstrators and elected officials who have criticized police tactics.

The Garner and Brown families issued statements repudiating the officers' killings, while civil rights leaders took to the airwaves to try to put some distance between the movement and the crime.

They fear a backlash.

Now they want to distance themselves from their participation in the barrage of anti-police rhetoric and protests.

One week before Brinsley executed two NYPD officers, Al Sharpton's "Million Marchers" protest against police violence included this chant:

But the AP frets about the backlash.

"To link the criminal insanity of a lone gunman to the peaceful protests and aspirations of many people across the country, including the attorney general, the mayor and even the president, is simply not fair," NAACP President Cornell William Brooks said on CBS's "Face the Nation."

Brooks said the shootings were "certainly not a step forward" for the movement.

"Criminal insanity of a lone gunman" should not be linked to PEACEFUL protests.

The problem is some of the protests are in no way peaceful and they push an entirely false narrative.

Brooks is whining that people linking his protests to the killings is "simply not fair."

What's not fair is that he and people like him have used LIES to demonize the police.

Sorry, but the alleged "civil rights leaders" own this.

...In the wake of the ambush, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani lashed out at New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, President Barack Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder. Speaking on Fox News, Giuliani said: "We've had four months of propaganda starting with the president that everybody should hate the police."

"They have created an atmosphere of severe, strong, anti-police hatred in certain communities, and for that, they should be ashamed of themselves," he said.

In a tweet, former New York Gov. George Pataki called the killings the "predictable outcome of divisive, anti-cop rhetoric of Attorney General Eric Holder and Bill De Blasio."

The accusations stoked fears that any gains made in the protest movement would be lost.

The perfectly reasonable remarks by Giuliani and Pataki stoked "fears that any gains made in the protest movement would be lost."

Good grief. I'm praying that the utter insanity of these anti-police protests will stop. I'm hoping that maybe now Obama will quit stoking rage against the police.

I highly doubt Obama will examine his conscience and behave responsibly. I'm certain Sharpton won't.

Bottom line: Sharpton isn't committed to nonviolence. He thrives on anger. He creates it. He lives on lies.

Two NYPD officers, Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu, were assassinated by an "I Can't Breathe" type of guy, Ismaaiyl Brinsley.

The suspect, 28-year-old Ismaaiyl Brinsley, wrote on an Instagram account: "I'm putting wings on pigs today. They take 1 of ours, let's take 2 of theirs," officials said. He used the hashtags Shootthepolice RIPErivGardner (sic) RIPMikeBrown.

Police said he approached the passenger window of a marked police car and opened fire, striking Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu in the head. The New York Police Department officers were on special patrol doing crime reduction work in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn.

The president of the NYPD union slammed Mayor Bill de Blasio in reaction to the deaths of two officers who were ambushed and gunned down in their patrol car in broad daylight Saturday in Brooklyn.

"There's blood on many hands tonight," Patrolman's Benevolent Association President Patrick Lynch said late Saturday. "Those that incited violence on this street under the guise of protest, that tried to tear down what New York City police officers did everyday.

"We tried to warn it must not go on, it cannot be tolerated," Lynch continued. "That blood on the hands starts on the steps of city hall in the office of the mayor."

Also on Saturday evening, video obtained by the New York Post showed several officers turning their backs on the mayor as he made his way down a hallway at Woodhull Hospital in Brooklyn, where Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu had earlier been pronounced dead. The Post also reported that earlier in the evening, de Blasio approached a group of officers outside the hospital and told them, "We're all in this together."

I understand Clarke's anger.

This anti-police narrative that local and national leaders, as well as the protesters across the country, have been pushing has deadly consequences.

Two good men are dead.

Obama BET Interview: Americans Are Racist

Obama's statements in recent days make me wonder if he realizes that he's president of the United States. Does he understand how one becomes president? Does he get the process that landed him in the White House?

Racial injustice permeates America according to Obama, so he's encouraging protesters to demand justice.

Obama declares that racism is "deeply rooted in our society."

Yeah, those "die-ins" are constructive. Storming Macy's is a great strategy. Arson and looting is always a positive approach to a perceived problem.

Protesters gathered around the city late Wednesday afternoon into the evening, following a decision by a grand jury not to indict an NYPD officer involved in the apparent chokehold death of Eric Garner.

Much as they did last week following a grand jury decision in the Michael Brown case in Ferguson, Missouri, protesters flooded the West Side Highway, shutting down traffic near 51st Street. Drivers found themselves flanked on all sides by protesters.

...Earlier, some protesters said they planned to disrupt the Christmas tree lighting ceremony at Rockefeller Center between 7 and 9 p.m., CBS2’s Tony Aiello reported.

As CBS2’s Tracee Carrasco reported, protesters had arrived at Rockefeller Plaza from Times Square by 6:15 p.m. Some were on the sidewalk chanting and holding signs, as others crowded the area for the annual holiday event.

But the NYPD would not let the protesters get anywhere near the Christmas tree.

The protesters remained on the streets some distance away chanted, “hands up, don’t shoot,” as well as, “I can’t breathe” — which Garner was heard saying on video after he was taken down by the apparent chokehold.

Others, referencing the tree-lighting ceremony, said, “No justice, no tree,” Carrasco reported.

“The lives of black young men, black children, they matter,” protester Florence Johnson said at Times Square.

Standing with the widow, mother and children of Garner, the Rev. Al Sharpton decried the grand jury decision at the Harlem, N.Y., headquarters of Sharpton's National Action Network, a civil rights organization.

"How many people have to die before people have to understand this is not an illusion?" Sharpton asked, as one of Garner's daughters wiped away tears.

"This is a reality that America has got to come to terms with," he said.

Sharpton called for a national march to take place in Washington Dec. 13 to press for changes in the justice system. "We are not advocating violence, we are asking that police violence stop," he said.

That's right, Al. Police across the country are completely out of control, lashing out violently, targeting African Americans. Yup. That's exactly where we are.

GIVE ME A BREAK!

A crowd of an estimated 200-300 protesters gathered in Times Square shortly before 5:30 p.m. Massing in a pedestrian area below the financial data streaming across the façade of the Nasdaq building, protestors alternated chants of Eric Garner's last words, "I Can't Breathe," with "Hands up, Don't shoot," and "No Justice, No Peace, No Racist Police."

Brooklyn resident Timothy Duwhite, 24, said he joined the demonstration because he'd lost faith in the U.S. justice system.

"I'm not even interested in a trial at this point," he said, referring to the New York City police officer who put Garner in a chokehold. "It would just make the public think that the system is working, and it's not. It would just lull people into thinking everything's okay."

Bad things do happen.

There are injustices.

Sometimes, the courts do get things wrong. We have a system that allows for appeals when it appears that justice has not been done.

From that standpoint, everything is OK. Everything is not broken.

Good grief.

Every day and night, police officers across the country are risking their lives to protect Americans. And what thanks do they get?

Obama and Eric Holder suggest that they are the thugs. They need additional training to get them to stop killing African Americans because they feel like it.

The Leftists seem to be doing all they can to keep the nation focused on this terrible institutionalized racism that permeates every sector of our society instead of issues such as Obama's executive amnesty and his violation of the Constitution. They don't want Americans talking about Obama's economic failures.

David Clarke For President

Mark Levin thinks David Clarke has the right stuff. He thinks Clarke is qualified to be president.

On his radio program yesterday, Levin explained that he met Clarke at the National Rifle Association convention last April.

MARK LEVIN: One of the people I met who was incredibly impressive was Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke. This is a good guy. This is a smart guy, a truly patriotic American. And as I said, he's the Milwaukee County sheriff, and he was holding a press conference a couple of weeks ago, and he just got angry and took the occasion to talk about Ferguson and Holder and what was going on in the country. And people have referred to this, but I don't know if you've actually heard it.

This guy is a true blue American. He happens to be an African American, but he's a true blue American, like all of us, regardless of our pigmentation and so forth. So let's take a little bit of time to hear what the man had to say because you're hearing Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton and Farrakhan and all the other malcontents and miscreants.

This is a sheriff who's had enough, like the rest of us.

Levin then played some clips of Clarke's remarks, criticizing Eric Holder for throwing law enforcement officers under the bus. Clarke expressed how disturbing it was for Holder to suggest that officers have malicious intent in their hearts, denying people their rights and indiscriminately shooting to take people's lives for nothing. Clarke said that Holder owes an apology to every law enforcement officer.

While playing the audio from Clarke's press conference, Levin shared his reaction.

LEVIN: This is Sheriff David Clarke of Milwaukee County. Isn't he superb?

LEVIN: This man should have a national platform beyond this program. This is a man who could be president. Oh, I know, we'd have to fight through the Wall Street Journal and the Bush family and all the rest. But, he's absolutely outstanding. Absolutely outstanding.

LEVIN: This man is qualified to be a senator, a governor, or president, in my humble opinion.

That's quite an endorsement.

As Levin said, there are voices in this country that need to be heard.

Obama believes that because a police officer in Ferguson did nothing wrong we need to spend $263 million of our tax dollars for body cameras for police and police training.

Of course, Obama is implying that most police officers in the United States are bad cops.

Even though what happened in Ferguson was that a police officer performed appropriately on the job, Obama is treating the case as an indication that we have a national problem when it comes to the way police officers carry out their duties.

Obama is kind of saying that the police are racist and quick to murder so we need to act now.

Really? That's what learned from the case in Ferguson?

Look at the facts of that case and learn that there was no police abuse or inappropriate behavior.

Obama, Sharpton, Media: Ferguson

Obama Ferguson Split Screen

This is an enduring image - Obama delivering his lame remarks after the Ferguson grand jury decision, urging peace, while the city erupts in violence thanks to agitators stoked by Obama and his ilk.

The split screen of the impotent Obama sharing many of the agitators' talking points as they carry out the plans they made long ago - to riot and destroy - was utilized on CNN and MSNBC and FOX. Americans of all political stripes were treated to the split screen.

MSNBC and CNN must be regretting that decision. It did not help Obama.



Only hours earlier, the Washington Post felt obliged to defend Obama in a Saturday Night Live skit.

Now, the same publication has to acknowledge that Obama's split screen moment was kind of awkward. Ouch!

Underlying any criticism of a split-screen moment is an incontrovertible fact: Commanders-in-chief are not the ones directing news broadcasts. They can control what they say — they can’t control the optics.

I think another fact-check is in order.

Obama and Ferguson: Issue For America

Obama says that being angry with the grand jury's decision in Ferguson is an understandable reaction.

OBAMA: There are Americans who agree with it, and there are Americans who are deeply disappointed, even angry. It’s an understandable reaction. But I join Michael’s parents in asking anyone who protests this decision to do so peacefully.

Wow.

What a powerful statement! Protest peacefully. What a leader!

Instead of leading from behind, Obama should have clearly stated that gunshots and arson and looting are totally unacceptable and illegal responses to a grand jury decision. He should have said that anyone engaging in such thuggery will be arrested for their crimes.

Obama is spitting in the faces of the members of the grand jury. He's saying they arrived at the wrong decision. He's saying our judicial system failed. Obama is stoking the violence, not quelling it. Anger at the grand jury and the American system is understandable in this case. Yeah, that will help to keep the peace.

It's not surprising that Obama's suggestion that people behave was disregarded.

Rather than heeding his call, they're telling him to shut the f--- up.

Obama's call for police to behave was particularly offensive.

OBAMA: I also appeal to the law enforcement officials in Ferguson and the region to show care and restraint in managing peaceful protests that may occur. Understand, our police officers put their lives on the line for us every single day. They’ve got a tough job to do to maintain public safety and hold accountable those who break the law. As they do their jobs in the coming days, they need to work with the community, not against the community, to distinguish the handful of people who may use the grand jury’s decision as an excuse for violence -- distinguish them from the vast majority who just want their voices heard around legitimate issues in terms of how communities and law enforcement interact.

I agree. It is an issue for America.

I guess the culture of victimhood and the promotion of dependence and helplessness doesn't work out so well, not in Ferguson and not in America.

Here's an idea: OBEY THE LAW. Act responsibly. Work WITH police to improve neighborhoods. Support and elect public officials interested in growing the economy and creating jobs rather than supporting politicians interested in creating dependence on government handouts.

The New York Daily News revealed some big time bias in its original headline of the grand jury decision in Ferguson.

KLLER COP NOT CHARGED: Missouri grand jury decides Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson WILL NOT be indicted on charges from fatal shooting of unarmed teen Michael Brown

That was changed to this:

FIERY RAGE IN FERGUSON: Missouri town erupts with arson, gunshots and looting following grand jury decision officer Darren Wilson will not be indicted on charges from fatal shooting

That headline presents a much different slant.

The focus is no longer on the "KILLER COP" shooting "unarmed teen Michael Brown," but on the violence being perpetrated by thugs.

The recently produced flyer, seen above, targets the black community. The flyer has gone viral since it was first seen in Wisconsin, then shot across the Internet, from Arizona-based radio host James T. Harris, to Wisconsin’s Daily Independent. The flyer shows photos of Michael Brown, Trayvon Martin, and Dontre Hamilton; under each is a caption saying, e.g., “Michael Brown can’t vote,” with the overall slogan: “Don’t let anyone silence your voice. Vote Nov. 4th.”

I miss James T. Harris, but I'm glad to see that he's still making a difference here in Wisconsin.

A man fired from an Oklahoma food processing plant beheaded a woman with a knife and was attacking another worker when he was shot and wounded by a company official, police said Friday.

Moore Police Sgt. Jeremy Lewis said police are waiting until Alton Nolen, 30, is conscious to arrest him in Thursday's attack and have asked the FBI to help investigate after co-workers at Vaughan Foods in the south Oklahoma City suburb told authorities that he recently started trying to convert several employees to Islam.

Nolen severed the head of Colleen Hufford, 54, Lewis said.

...Lewis said Nolen then stabbed Traci Johnson, 43, a number of times before Mark Vaughan, a reserve sheriff's deputy and the company's chief operating officer, shot him.

"This was not going to stop if he didn't stop it. It could have gotten a lot worse," Lewis said. "The threat had already stopped once we arrived."

Why hasn't Obama commented on this poor woman's death at the hands of a radical Muslim?

Obama Golfs, Leaves Martha's Vineyard

If it's Sunday, Obama must be golfing.

No surprise. Obama was on the golf course yesterday.

Of course, the fact that Obama is shockingly disengaged as the leader of the Free World is ignored by the Leftist media for the most part.

We're supposed to focus on Obama's "rare move."

President Barack Obama is getting off the island.

In a rare move for him, the president took a break in the middle of his Martha's Vineyard vacation to return to Washington on Sunday night for meetings with Vice President Joe Biden and other advisers on the U.S. military campaign in Iraq and tensions between police and protesters in Ferguson, Missouri.

The White House has been cagey about why the president needs to be back in Washington for those discussions. He's received multiple briefings on both issues while on vacation. The White House had also already announced Obama's plans to return to Washington before the U.S. airstrikes in Iraq began and before the shooting of a teen in Ferguson that sparked protests.

Part of the decision to head back to Washington appears aimed at countering criticism that Obama is spending two weeks on a resort island in the midst of so many foreign and domestic crises.

It appears that Obama is trying to quiet his critics on the Left.

Taking a little break from his vacation certainly won't change the minds of those of us in opposition to his Leftist policies.

Leaving the island won't erase Obama's litany of scandals and his trail of failures. It won't eliminate the fact that he has used his power to target Americans, his political enemies. It won't alter the reality that Obama has been on a mission to NOT preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.
