Jimmy Fallon: George H.W. Bush Voting For Hillary

JIMMY FALLON: And this is kind of crazy: It's being reported that former President George H.W. Bush actually plans to vote for Hillary Clinton for president. Even more surprising, he made that decision before Jeb dropped out of the race.

Jeb bowed out with class and with his dignity intact.

Others in the race for the Republican nomination should take note.

Leno: Hillary and Sanders Jokes, Ted Cruz Joke

Jay Leno helped Jimmy Fallon out with his monologue on Wednesday night. It's a routine they've done before, Fallon getting injured and needing a sub with Jay Leno tagging in.

With Fallon in Los Angeles this week, it was fitting that Leno would make an appearance.

Whenever Leno does a segment of Fallon's monologue, I realize just how terribly out of political balance Fallon's monologue is.

It was great to hear some hard-hitting jokes at the Democrats' expense.

JAY LENO: I got my first robocall this week. It said, 'Hi, this is Bill Clinton. Can Hillary count on you?' Count on me? She can't even count on Bill. Don't drag me into your marital problems, pal.

And this email problem continues to dog Hillary, but she says, 'It's just an honest mistake.' Did you ever notice the only time people want you to know they're honest is when they make a mistake? Why is that?

But, Hillary says she has been tested. Well, I hope so. You never know what Bill might bring home.

After his big win in New Hampshire, they say Hillary's team is trying to dig up dirt on Bernie Sanders. Do you know what they call someone who digs up dirt on Bernie Sanders? An archaeologist.

But, the big decision for Sanders will be picking a vice president. It's important because whoever he chooses is just a prostate away from being the next president of the United States.

Leno then turned to the Republicans.

JAY LENO: Let me ask you something. What is going on with the Republicans? I watch these debates. Trump attacks Cruz. Rubio goes after Bush. Bush gets in a fight with Trump. Remember the good old day when the Republicans were all united against the poor and the minorities? What happened?

And Ted Cruz, did you hear about this? Oh, boy. Ted Cruz's campaign pulled one of their TV commercials because the actress in the ad was a porn star. The campaign said they hired the porn star because they thought she could make Ted Cruz easier to swallow.

Jimmy Fallon: Iowa Caucus Jokes

JIMMY FALLON: On Monday, Hillary Clinton narrowly won in Iowa, with the final results showing that she beat Bernie Sanders by less than one percent. And you thought Bernie was mad at the one percent before. 'It's always the one percent!'

Actually, Hillary is facing criticism for declaring victory in Iowa prematurely. The final results weren't actually announced until around 1:00 PM on Tuesday, but she declared victory back in April of last year.

After receiving less than one percent support in the Iowa caucuses, Martin O'Malley suspended his presidential campaign. In a related story, the New York Jets have announced that they've decided to not play in the Super Bowl this week.

Over on the Republican side, Ted Cruz made history by becoming the first Hispanic to win the Iowa caucus. Then Cruz said, 'And the first Canadian! I mean, nothing.'

Now, this isn't good, you guys, right here. Experts are saying that the low turnout for Jeb Bush in Iowa means that he spent almost $3000 per vote. Talk about a waste of $6000!

Iowa Caucus Observations

Finally, we're done speculating. We have concrete results to analyze in Iowa.

Some observations and thoughts:

DEMOCRATS

---Hillary is in trouble. It's Groundhog Day for her, 2008 all over again.

---Democrats proudly embraced the proud SOCIALIST, Bernie Sanders.

---The race between Hillary and Bernie was so close, Martin O'Malley, even with his minuscule support, actually managed to have an impact on the results.

---A dead heat is not a victory for either candidate.

REPUBLICANS

---Don't believe polls. We were supposed to witness the Trump juggernaut. Instead, Donald Trump had to accept second place with a smile. 

---Respecting the process is important. Trump ducking out of a debate just a few days before the caucus was a mistake.

---Turns out Trump wasn't too big to lose. Well, he didn't lose, but he didn't win. Second place is not a victory.

---Jeb, Jeb, Jeb. Time to stop wasting money and let this one go.

---Marco Rubio clearly has momentum. He did an excellent job delivering his post-caucus speech, wisely using the forum to reach a broad audience. If he's not the nominee for president, and I think he could/should be, he belongs on the ticket as the vice presidential nominee.

---Ted Cruz is apparently likable enough. The "everyone hates Cruz" narrative obviously is a false one. Deal with it, Establishment.

---Regarding the awful behavior by the Trump-hating pundits and factions of the Trump-hating conservative media: After months of their tantrums and their incessant mocking of Trump supporters, it's going to be hard for them to regain the respect they've lost among the many of us paying attention to the truly embarrassing spectacle. It wasn't at all necessary to further alienate a significant portion of the electorate. But, they did, utilizing childish terms like "Trumpkins."

---I'm glad Cruz won and I'm glad Rubio did so well.

---What we have is a three-person race.

JIMMY FALLON: We've got a big show tonight. Daisy Ridley from the new Star Wars movie is here. Everyone's talking about her role. In the movie, she plays a character who tries to salvage massive wreckages, which explains why she's been hired by Jeb Bush's campaign.

Thing haven't been going too great for Jeb Bush, but he's not giving up. In fact, I read that his campaign has spent the most money on TV ads at 30 million dollars. I don't want to say Jeb has run too many ads but his new Secret Service code name is 'GEICO.'

Killing Baby Hitler

THIS IS INSANE.

This is not an issue that deserves any attention whatsoever: If given the chance, would you kill baby Hitler?

I don't care that Jeb Bush gives an enthusiastic "Hell, yeah" to kill Hitler as a baby.

Instead of musing about time travel and eliminating threats to humanity, perhaps the focus should be on REALITY.

Maybe we should be focusing on killing those posing a real threat to us now, like the terrorists Obama calls the "JV team."

I guess that's too much to ask.

The media and other talking heads have decided it's time for Jeb Bush to get out of the 2016 presidential race.

JAY LENO: The election's getting nasty. Ralph Nader called Hillary Clinton a corporatist and a militarist. Isn't that unbelievable? Ralph Nader is still alive?

Hillary Clinton's not the only Democrat running. Martin O'Malley, ex-governor of Maryland, do you know him? He's running for president. He's 2% in the polls, 2%. He's been in the race for eight months and he's only tied with low-fat milk. That's not good.

How about this? After that last debate, Marco Rubio is being called the best communicator in the Republican Party, which is kind of like being the smartest Kardashian. And he is not the only Hispanic running. No, no. Senor Jeb Bush also running for president.

You know, a lot of people think when the Republican field begins to clear it'll be down to Jeb Bush and Donald Trump, kind of like the race between the tortoise and the bad hair.

But as Jimmy mentioned, Bernie Sanders is getting a lot of traction. In fact, if Bernie Sanders wins, he'll be the first socialist elected president since 2008.

If we're going to talk about drug use, let's slam Obama for his past or the distinguished Senator Al Franken.

Our country is going to hell, but a big moment from the debate is Jeb's weed admission.

Late Show with Stephen Colbert - AWFUL

Oh, my God.

It was terrible.

I didn't plan to watch the debut of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Then, I decided I had to watch David Letterman's successor. As a late night TV viewer, I would watch the start of a new era on CBS.

It was painfully bad. I will not be a regular viewer. I won't be a sometime viewer. Unless there is a guest booked that I'm oddly compelled to see, I will never watch the show again.

Clearly, I'm not a Colbert fan.

The opening "Star-Spangled Banner" performance was odd. Jon Stewart's cameo didn't excite me. I thought he was Wolf Blitzer.

Colbert's jokes weren't funny.

Trump, Trump, Trump.

The Oreo bit was so dumb.

Trump, Trump, Trump.

George Clooney, the first guest, was unwatchable. I changed the channel. I couldn't stand it.

I flipped back to see Jeb Bush. I thought I must have missed the segment. The commercial break I caught went on forever. Based on the time, I was certain I missed it. When the break finally ended, Colbert introduced Bush. OK. The segment was ridiculously brief, but a message on the screen directed viewers to Colbert's CBS website for additional content. Seriously? I don't think so.

The musical performance, a rendition of "Everyday People," featuring Mavis Staples, was nice but also a little weird, a little too much of a time warp.

During the commercial break before Colbert closed his first episode at the reins of Late Show, an ad bashed Ron Johnson - perfectly fitting, made complete sense.

The show ran over its time slot. No surprise there.

The final bit was Colbert and Jimmy Fallon in the late night locker room. Whatever.

Really painful.

I'll add the recording to my late night talk show library, but I'm done.

I watched. I suffered. It's over.

I'm done.

Trump Signs Pledge

Donald Trump has pledged not to run as a third-party candidate in the 2016 presidential election. He offered his loyalty to the Republican Party.

This indicates just how well Trump is doing as a Republican candidate.

I think he believes he can win the nomination. Whether he can, of course, remains to be seen.

I think the RNC is wise to show Trump respect, not because I think Trump will continue to be at the top of the polls, but because so many Americans are drawn to Trump.

Establishment Republicans and conservative talking heads clearly aren't hurting Trump when they attack him and dismiss him as a clown. That strategy has been thoroughly ineffective.

Trump's popularity reveals just how frustrated many conservatives are with establishment Republicans. We want a leader, a fighter, not an appeaser.

We elect Republicans to represent us and our conservative agenda, but instead they bow down to the Leftists. We handed Republicans landslides in 2010 and 2014. Where did that get us?

Quite simply, we're sick of the Republicans' impotence. We're sick of being screwed over by them.

Republicans need to pay attention to the PEOPLE and get why Trump's message and manner is resonating with them.

LISTEN.

LEARN.

ACT.

GROW A SPINE.



I can't say I trust Trump.

That's a big problem, but I do understand how desperately people are pining for a candidate willing to take on the rabid Leftists without tiptoeing around and trying to earn their approval.

Good grief, they aren't voting for Republicans.

So many Republican candidates don't seem to understand that they need the approval of conservatives first. They don't get it.

Playing to the Left is not a winning strategy.
