Obama/Biden Scandals

Joe Biden claims the Obama/Biden administration had "not one whisper of scandal."

Fact check that.

This spot doesn't mention their greatest scandal of all - the Coup Scandal.

Obama's Scandals - EMBARRASSING

Obama says his administration had no embarrassing scandals during his presidency.

WHAT?

Leno: Obama and Gitmo

JAY LENO: President Obama says he is renewing efforts to close Guantanamo Bay, which he's been trying to do for five years. You know, if he really wants to close it, turn it into a government-funded solar power company. The doors will be shut in a month. The whole thing will collapse.

Obama Stimulus Money: Where Did It Go?

The truth, Obama's record, hurts.

Obama has wasted our tax dollars.

Obama is a Leftist radical. We know that. We know his political philosophy. He's anti-individualist, meaning anti-American Dream.

But let's focus on the concrete - his record as president. Let's focus on the empirical, the facts.

Obama's record reveals that he's been deceptive. He's been a disaster.

We need real HOPE and CHANGE now.

Vote for Mitt Romney.

Obama: More Solyndras

Obama is perhaps the greatest, most accomplished president ever when it comes to wasting taxpayer dollars. That's sure to be part of his legacy.

This is corruption.

This is a scandal, an OBAMA scandal.

I would like to fire Obama now. November can't come soon enough.

Wasserman Schultz, Solyndra, FOX News Sunday

On FOX News Sunday, DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz did a terrible job trying to differentiate between Mitt Romney's record as CEO of Bain Capital and Obama's responsibility for the job losses at Solyndra.

Video.

I love Reince Priebus' comments on Wasserman Schultz's exchange with Chris Wallace.

CHRIS WALLACE: Chairman Priebus, your response to that, sir.

REINCE PRIEBUS: I learned in law that when the other side is losing the argument, sometimes you quit talking and you let them continue. But, I mean, the reality is the president is the CEO. The fish rots at the head. Millions of Americans don't feel better off today than they were three or four years ago.

Obama and Dennis Miller's Joke

When Obama was on the Tonight Show, he got a laugh from the audience when he said this:

JAY LENO: Now, have you been watching the GOP debates?

OBAMA: I'm going to wait until everybody is voted off the island before --

(Applause, laughter)

Once they narrow it down to one or two, I'll start paying attention.

Did Obama's people steal Dennis Miller's line, "voted off the island"?Did they feed Obama Miller's joke? Did Leno's writers share it with Obama?

Video.

I think Miller is probably right. It's kind of an obvious line and it wouldn't be a stretch for others to come up with the same thought on their own. As Miller said, even Joe Biden could figure out that one.

Still, the way Obama echoes Miller is kind of funny .

Miller makes a good point when he says that it's not the possibility of Obama stealing a joke that concerns him. It's the real stealing - Solyndra, etc. - that bothers him.

Issa: Fast and Furious, Solyndra, and Holder

On FOX News Sunday yesterday, Chris Wallace interviewed Congressman Darrell Issa about Fast and Furious and the Solyndra scandal.

Issa said that he'll be issuing a new set of subpoenas this week to Attorney General Eric Holder.

Issa asserted that Holder's comments about Fast and Furious have been disingenuous. He said that the operation was "felony stupid." He wants Holder to come clean.

On Solyndra, Issa said that documents released on Friday show a pattern of investments by the Obama administration that are questionable. He said that Solyndra is a story of political interference.

Here's video of the interview:

Obama promised Americans change. He was going to usher in a new way of governing and unprecedented transparency.

Another promised unfulfilled.

Obama West Coast Fundraising Tour

As president of the United States, Obama has so much on his plate right now.

The economy is an absolute disaster.

There are no jobs.

He's waging wars overseas, putting American military men and women in harm's way.

And of course, he's busy waging class warfare at home.

Obama is facing plummeting approval ratings. Even his base is deserting him.

He has a dismal record as president and is swimming in a slew of broken promises.

Obama also has to deal with the Solyndra scandal.

In short, Obama is so bogged down with issues demanding his attention that he should be devoting every waking hour to address them. He should focus on getting the country out of the mess he's made.

Instead, Obama is on a three-day fundraising tour to the West Coast.

From FOX News:

As he kicked off a three-day swing through the West aimed in part at firing up his liberal base and raking in millions of dollars for his 2012 re-election campaign, President Obama claimed his first term has been a success even as he urged supporters for the second straight day to "shake off" their frustrations in order to help give him a second term in office.

"I need you guys to shake off any doldrums," Obama said Sunday at the second of two fundraisers in Seattle before jetting here to San Jose for two more fundraisers. "I need you to decide right here and right now, talk to your friends and neighbors and co-workers and tell them, ‘You know what? We're not finished yet.'"

Obama struck a similar tone in rallying liberal supporters on Saturday night in Washington, DC, when he spoke at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's Annual Phoenix Awards dinner before heading out West on Sunday.

"I expect all of you to march with me and press on," Obama said to applause. "Take off your bedroom slippers, put on your marching shoes. Shake it off. Stop complaining, stop grumbling, stop crying. We are going to press on."

In Seattle on Sunday, Obama was just as aggressive in asserting his first term has been successful as he claimed that he has accomplished the vast majority of what he wanted to get done.

"We’re just starting off here, we’ve got 14 months," Obama said about his first term in office, urging supporters to help spread the message that it’s not a failure he’s only gotten 80 percent of what he wants done so far.

"That’s a success,” Obama said, adding that it should be an inspiration to get the other 20 percent of his agenda done. He was speaking at a brunch at the home of a former Microsoft executive closed to television cameras that raked in $35,800 per couple.

At the second fundraiser in Seattle, Obama pressed Republicans to help pass his latest economic plan, saying it's a choice between his approach or the nation going back to the "same ideas the other side is peddling -- old, worn-out ideas from last decade" that gave the upper hand to the wealthiest corporations and individuals.

Obama was speaking at the famed Paramount Theatre in Seattle to a packed fundraiser of roughly 1,700 people, including basketball legend Bill Russell. Donors paid a minimum of $100 a ticket for the event but some paid up to $7,500 for special privileges such as getting a photo with the president.

Good grief.

Obama has been a miserable failure as president. Saying he's been successful doesn't make it so.

In just three days, Obama will raise millions of dollars to help him win reelection.

He won't be solving the nation's problems. He won't be helping you. It's all about him. Obama wants to hold on to power. That's the purpose of this 3-day trip.

What a waste!

Solyndra Deal and Paul Ryan

Paul Ryan shares his opinion on Obama's Solyndra deal and Stimulus, Part Two.

This month, as President Obama pressed Congress to pass another misguided “stimulus” proposal, the consequences of the administration’s first $800 billion stimulus law are becoming painfully clear. High unemployment and anemic growth are serving as constant reminders of the president’s broken promises on the economy.

Consider Solyndra, the now-bankrupt California solar panel company, which was once the poster child of the administration’s “green jobs” initiative. Solyndra is proving to be Exhibit A in the case for why the president’s economic policies have failed.

There’s still much to be learned about Solyndra’s interactions with the administration. The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform has launched a probe into the process by which Solyndra secured a $535 million stimulus-funded loan guarantee from the Department of Energy.

And tomorrow, Solyndra’s executives are scheduled to appear before the House Energy and Commerce Committee. Despite earlier pledges to testify, these executives have recently announced that they will exercise their right to remain silent at Friday's hearing.

But regardless of the potential legal impropriety, there is no question that the fundamental laws of economics have been violated. The company’s rise and fall illustrates the folly of empowering government to pick winners and losers in our economy.

The president’s stimulus was premised on the faulty idea that “Washington knows best,” and that bureaucracies can make better decisions than taxpayers, entrepreneurs, and businesses can. With respect to energy, this translated into tens of billions in new government subsidies for politically favored interests: $6 billion in loan guarantees for renewable energy investments, $2 billion for energy efficient battery manufacturing, and $17 billion for the Department of Energy’s energy efficiency programs.

Solyndra was the very first recipient of the Department of Energy’s stimulus-backed loan-guarantee program, and it has become a fitting public symbol of the administration’s new green-energy agenda.

When the loan guarantee was announced, Energy Secretary Stephen Chu and Vice President Joe Biden participated in the public ceremony, and president himself highlighted Solyndra as an example of America’s energy future.

Even against the advice of government financial experts at the Office of Management and Budget, the loan guarantees were pushed out the door with great haste, and the company was given a decided leg up on their competitors that lacked the political capital Solyndra enjoyed.

This troubling behavior does not end with Solyndra – it extends to other well-connected firms in industries favored by the administration.

...We cannot afford an economy full of Solyndras, where firms exist and prosper only because they have attained preferred status among the politically powerful. Crony capitalism flies in the face of our most deeply held principles, such as equal rights before the law, and it hurts our economy by weakening the connection between effort and reward.

With President Obama calling on Congress to pass his latest round of stimulus spending “not today, not tomorrow, but right now,” Solyndra reminds us what happened the last time this administration was given hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars to spend without any due diligence or foresight.

In 2009, the President Obama highlighted Solyndra as the crown jewel of his economic agenda. Today, this bankrupt firm still serves as a fitting monument to his failed policies.

A rallying cry for Republicans, Election 2012, should be: REMEMBER SOLYNDRA!

Solyndra Scandal

Obama and green jobs and lies...

Get the facts on the Solyndra scandal:

"This Deal Is NOT Ready For Prime Time." "‘This deal is NOT ready for prime time,' one White House budget analyst wrote in a March 10, 2009 email, nine days before the administration formally announced the loan." (Matthew Mosk, Brian Ross, and Ronnie Greene, "Emails: Obama White House Monitored Huge Loan To 'Connected' Firm," ABC News, 9/13/11)

OMB Staffer Complained About "Time Pressure We Are Under To Sign-Off On Solyndra." "One e-mail from an OMB official referred to 'the time pressure we are under to sign-off on Solyndra.'" (Joe Stephens and Carol D. Leonnig, "White House Pressed On $500 Million Loan To Solar Company Now Under Investigation," The Washington Post, 9/13/11)

When Pressured By White House Chief Of Staff Office, OMB Staff Responded: "I Would Prefer That This Announcement Be Postponed... This Is The First Loan Guarantee And We Should Have Full Review With All Hands On Deck To Make Sure We Get It Right." "In one e-mail, an assistant to Rahm Emanuel, then White House chief of staff, wrote on Aug. 31, 2009, to OMB about the upcoming Biden announcement on Solyndra and asked whether 'there is anything we can help speed along on OMB side.' An OMB staff member responded: 'I would prefer that this announcement be postponed... This is the first loan guarantee and we should have full review with all hands on deck to make sure we get it right.'" (Joe Stephens and Carol D. Leonnig, "White House Pressed On $500 Million Loan To Solar Company Now Under Investigation," The Washington Post, 9/13/11)

George Kaiser, A Major Obama Fundraiser And Frequent White House Visitor, Was One Of Solyndra's Largest Investors. "Its largest investors were venture capital funds associated with Kaiser, the Tulsa oil executive who served as a major Obama fundraiser in 2008 and who has been a frequent White House visitor." (Carol D. Leoning, Joe Stephens, and Alice Crites, "Obama's Focus On Visiting Clean-Tech Compaines Raises Questions," The Washington Post, 6/25/11)

Reince Priebus, Chairman of the Republican National Committee, writes:
The time has come for the self-proclaimed "most transparent White House in history" to come clean on their involvement in Solyndra securing a loan guaranteed with taxpayer dollars. The more we learn about this particular deal that has resulted in an FBI investigation, the more questions arise.

Did the West Wing put undue pressure on the loan analysts in order to stage a White House photo op? What was discussed between Solyndra's investors and White House officials during the roughly two dozen meetings? Did the White House push for the loan guarantee at the behest of an Obama donor and bundler?

After throwing over $500 million dollars down the drain, Americans have serious questions. Sign this petition if you agree with me that the White House needs to release all internal documents so that voters can know the truth.

Sign the petition.

Obama: Manitowoc, Wisconsin - January 26, 2011

Obama will deliver his State of the Union address on January 25, 2011.

The day after his speech, Obama is going on the road.

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

President Barack Obama plans to travel to Manitowoc on Wednesday, Jan. 26, a White House official said Tuesday.

The White House has released no other details about the visit.

...It would be his first trip to Wisconsin since the 2010 campaign.

The Republican Governors Association has released this statement in response to Obama's travel plans:
Republican Governors Association spokesman Mike Schrimpf released the following statement today regarding the White House’s announcement that President Obama will visit Manitowoc, Wisconsin the day after he delivers his State of the Union address:

“Last November, voters overwhelmingly rejected the tax, spend and borrow policies of Democrats at every level of government and no state did so more dramatically than Wisconsin.

Like most of the country, Wisconsin residents cast their ballots for lower taxes and limited government by electing Republican Scott Walker to the governorship and Ron Johnson to the U.S. Senate, and giving Republicans control of both state legislative chambers.

President Obama would be wise to follow the example being set by Governor Walker and Republicans in the state. The nation, like the people of Wisconsin, wants a chief executive who will focus all his energy on job creation and hold the line on taxes, eliminate red tape and reduce the size and reach of government.”

Clearly, Obama is showing that he's not willing to retreat and give up on the battleground state of Wisconsin.

He's wasting his time.

The people of Wisconsin gave the liberal Russ Feingold the boot and elected a conservative, Ron Johnson, to represent us in the U.S. Senate. (I love saying that.)

We elected Republicans Reid Ribble and Sean Duffy to fill seats in the U.S. House of Representatives previously held by Democrats.

We elected a conservative to be governor of our state, Scott Walker.

We gave control of both houses of the Wisconsin State Legislature to the Republicans.

What is Obama going to say in Manitowoc?

Is he going to say that he screwed up during his first two years as president, that he led the country in the wrong direction, and that he's going to change his radical Leftist ways and become conservative?

If not, Obama should take his shtick elsewhere. We're not buying it.

_______________

Obama will be visiting Orion on Wednesday.

FLASHBACK, October 15, 2010: Orion and Obama

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
Orion Energy Systems Inc. said Friday its two wind turbines and solar panels installation, coupled with its own energy efficiency technologies, mean that its Manitowoc factory has hit a milestone in meeting its own energy needs.

“During certain periods of time during the day, we actually displace as much energy as our manufacturing facility consumes,” said Kevin Crawford, vice president of government affairs.

Orion said it hoped to convince its energy efficiency customers, including one-fourth of the Fortune 500 companies, to deploy distributed renewable power in conjunction with energy efficiency as part of what the Manitowoc firm calls the Orion “integrated system.”

The company installed a small wind turbine in August and more recently a larger 50-kilowatt wind turbine adjacent to its headquarters and factory. The company also has installed 270 kilowatts of panels from California solar tube developer Solyndra on the 266,000-square-foot factory’s roof.

Orion says its own energy efficient lighting technologies and its electric-light reducing daylighting product, the light pipe -- shown in conjunction with Solyndra's panels in the picture below -- are being used to reduce energy use within its factory. The Solyndra solar panels plus the wind turbines are generating power to offset the remaining energy use.

On days when it’s overcast or there isn’t much wind, grid parity won’t be achieved, but it’s a milestone nonetheless, Crawford said.

Obama touted the work being done by Orion over a year ago.

Unfortunately, the brilliant Obama didn't learn how to pronounce the company's name, even though just minutes earlier he had listened to a presentation that included the proper pronunciation.

Not too smooth.

March 23, 2009:

All terrific press for Orion, except that Obama kept pronouncing the company’s name wrong, calling it OAR-ee-on.

After finishing his remarks and talking with a few people, the president returned to the microphone and said his prepared remarks led him to pronounce the firm's name wrong.

“I suspect this is Or-EYE-on as opposed to OAR-ee-on. Just wanted to make sure that when I’m giving you a plug, that we’ve got the right plug. It’s Or-EYE-on.”

Not smooth at all.
