Jimmy Fallon: Hillary, Trump, Birtherism, and Bullying (Video)

Considering the media went berserk last Friday absolutely obsessing about Donald Trump and the Obama birther issue, it was odd for Hillary to say this when she was a guest on The Tonight Show Monday.

HILLARY CLINTON: Your former guest, Donald Trump, has refused to actually admit that President Obama is an American, born in America. And for five years, he's been hammering in this so-called birther movement, which I think is so sickening.

Given that the episode was taped days ago, it's possible that this was a matter of timing. However, for her to be unaware of Trump's statement that Obama was born in America, the show would have had to have been taped last Wednesday, when she was still recovering from "pneumonia," or Thursday.

[NOTE: The show was taped last Friday. I missed the "widely publicized" surgical mask bit hype over the weekend. That said, there's no way Hillary didn't know about Trump's statement on Obama's place of birth, unless the taping took place very early Friday morning.]

Hillary is flat-out wrong that Trump refuses to admit Obama is an American, born in America.

She also said that Trump went after a Gold Star family "because they're Muslims."

She painted herself as someone trying to unite the country and Trump as a hateful, divisive character.

HILLARY CLINTON: We have to decide in this election what kind of country we want. You know, are we going to be a country that comes together, that respects each other, that celebrates our diversity, which I think is one of our great strengths; or are we going to be pitted against each other, and be divided, and have all this bigotry and bullying that's going on?
Say what?

This coming from the "basket of deplorables" woman?

This from the woman assailing 25 percent of the country as "racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic, you name it"?

How dishonest! She presents herself as respectful and wanting to unite us when she is engaging in name-calling and bullying.

About the upcoming presidential debate:

JIMMY FALLON:
Speaking of pitting against each other, the debate is coming up on September 26th. We have Lester Holt moderating. Um, how, which Trump are you gonna get? Do you have any idea what-- because he seems to be changing a bit.

CLINTON: Well, look, he's trying to somehow convince people to forget everything he's said and done, you know. And I don't think he's gonna get away with that. At least judge us on who we are, what we've done, what we've stood for.

Hillary has a problem.

She, too, must be judged on who she is, what she's done, and what she's stood for.

Hillary has made a career of lying to the American people. She is steeped in corruption.

Does she really expect people to forget the truth about her?

Hillary Clinton 2008 and Obama Birther Rumors

All day on Friday, we were pounded by the Leftist media, the Democrat mouthpieces, and the Never Trump mob with the line that Donald Trump is to blame for the birther movement, not Hillary Clinton.

No wonder Americans don't trust the media.

In 2011, even the Leftist Politico wrote that Hillary's supporters stoked the birther controversy.

Read "Birtherism: Where it all began."

At the time, the Democratic presidential primary was slipping away from Hillary Clinton and some of her most passionate supporters grasped for something, anything that would deal a final reversal to Barack Obama.

The theory’s proponents are a mix of hucksters and earnest conspiracy theorists, including prominently a lawyer who previously devoted himself to ‘proving’ that the Sept. 11 attacks were an inside job. Its believers are primarily people predisposed to dislike Obama. That willingness to believe the worst about officials of the opposite party is a common feature of presidential rumor-mongering: In 2006, an Ohio University/Scripps Howard poll found that slightly more than half of Democrats said they suspected the Bush Administration of complicity in the Sept. 11 attacks.

While there is no grain of truth to either fantasy, there’s something else when it comes to Obama: A visceral reaction against him, a deep sense that the first black president, with liberal views and a Muslim name, must be—in some concrete, provable way—foreign.

A brief history of birtherism

Birtherism is the latest and most enduring version of a theory in search of facts.

The original smear against Obama was that he was a crypto-Muslim, floated in 2004 by perennial Illinois political candidate and serial litigant Andy Martin. Other related versions of this theory alleged that Obama was educated in an Indonesian “madrassa” or steeped in Islamist ideology from a young age, and the theories began to spread virally after Obama appeared on the national stage – to the casual observer, from nowhere – with his early 2007 presidential campaign announcement.

All through that year, the Obama campaign – with the affirmation of most leaders of both parties – aggressively battled that smear by emphasizing his Christian faith. Obama’s controversial but emphatically Christian pastor emerged as a campaign issue and the belief that he was a Muslim seemed to lose traction.

Then, as Obama marched toward the presidency, a new suggestion emerged: That he was not eligible to serve.

That theory first emerged in the spring of 2008, as Clinton supporters circulated an anonymous email questioning Obama’s citizenship.

Of course, Politico is pushing a different narrative now.

Then there's this, from PolitiFact: "The Obama Muslim Myth: The Clinton connection."

And from Slate: "Obama Gets Dressed."

Then, at 10:54 a.m., Clinton’s campaign manager, Maggie Williams, pierced the quiet with her own release . "Enough," she wrote. "If Barack Obama's campaign wants to suggest that a photo of him wearing traditional Somali clothing is divisive, they should be ashamed. Hillary Clinton has worn the traditional clothing of countries she has visited and had those photos published widely." She goes on to say Obama is trying to "distract from the serious issues." Note that they never refuted Drudge’s piece. (More detail on that piece of the story is trickling in.)

Let’s take a moment to review: Obama’s campaign thinks Clinton is trying to be divisive by encouraging the Obama-is-a-Muslim myth. Clinton’s campaign thinks the Obama campaign is being divisive because it thinks Clinton’s campaign is being divisive. We love these spats as much as the next blogger, but Clinton’s stance is flimsy at best. While Obama cries foul, he also gets to show everybody that he is experienced enough to have gone on a diplomatic mission to a foreign country. Plus, he gets a high-profile platform to say he isn’t a Muslim. Clinton, meanwhile, is forced to play traditional-clothing catch-up while covering-up her staffers’ foolishness.
This notion that Hillary Clinton's 2008 campaign wasn't instrumental in promoting the birther movement is a rewriting of history.

The former D.C. bureau chief for McClatchy claims that a representative from the Clinton campaign approached him about investigating the Obama "birther" claim in 2008. The new claim is casting doubt on the Clinton's denial that her campaign was the first to raise questions about President Barack Obama's place of birth.

I think it's silly that this is a topic of concern at all with the election looming in the near future.

Hillary and her media supporters are panicking, I guess.

The Hillary campaign and her media hacks decided to make this an issue now, hoping to stop Trump's momentum by crying racism.

So sleazy.

Jimmy Fallon: Trump Birther Jokes - Fake Moon Landing

JIMMY FALLON: For the first time ever, Donald Trump admitted that President Obama was born in the United States. Trump said, 'It's true. Obama was born in Hawaii, 1961, exactly eight years before the U.S. faked the moon landing.'

And get this, Trump is now even claiming that it was Hillary Clinton who started the rumor that Obama wasn't born in the U.S. When asked why Hillary would do that, Trump was like, 'Who knows? I mean, this is a woman who wants to build a big wall with Mexico. So, I mean, I don't know. She expects them to pay for it. Ask her.'

The Birther Issue and Sidney Blumenthal

Oh.

Sid Blumenthal.

There are other tweets from the apoplectic Never Trump crowd.

I heard Sykes get into a shouting match during his Right Wisconsin "week in review" segment, insisting that Hillary and her people had nothing to do with the birther thing.

He pulled out a version of the often cited Patrick Moynihan quote: "Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not to his own facts."

For the love of God, let's stick to the facts.

Calm down and stick to the facts.

As of 6:30 PM CDT, you won't find the James Asher, former Washington Bureau Chief for the McClatchy Co., tweet on Sykes' Twitter line.

Obviously, it doesn't fit his narrative.

Ah, truth. It's a bitch.

Obama Born in Kenya

If it's the lead story on Drudge, it's hard to ignore.

The story comes to us from Breitbart.

Andrew Breitbart promised that this presidential election would be different.

In 2008, Obama was elected without being vetted. This time, Breitbart vowed Obama was not going to escape again without a thorough vetting.

From Breitbart's Big Government: The Vetting - Exclusive - Obama's Literary Agent in 1991 Booklet: 'Born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii'

Note from Senior Management:

Andrew Breitbart was never a "Birther," and Breitbart News is a site that has never advocated the narrative of "Birtherism." In fact, Andrew believed, as we do, that President Barack Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on August 4, 1961.

Yet Andrew also believed that the complicit mainstream media had refused to examine President Obama's ideological past, or the carefully crafted persona he and his advisers had constructed for him.

It is for that reason that we launched "The Vetting," an ongoing series in which we explore the ideological background of President Obama (and other presidential candidates)--not to re-litigate 2008, but because ideas and actions have consequences.

It is also in that spirit that we discovered, and now present, the booklet described below--one that includes a marketing pitch for a forthcoming book by a then-young, otherwise unknown former president of the Harvard Law Review.

It is evidence--not of the President's foreign origin, but that Barack Obama's public persona has perhaps been presented differently at different times.

***

Breitbart News has obtained a promotional booklet produced in 1991 by Barack Obama's then-literary agency, Acton & Dystel, which touts Obama as "born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii."

The booklet, which was distributed to "business colleagues" in the publishing industry, includes a brief biography of Obama among the biographies of eighty-nine other authors represented by Acton & Dystel.

It also promotes Obama's anticipated first book, Journeys in Black and White--which Obama abandoned, later publishing Dreams from My Father instead.

Obama’s biography in the booklet is as follows (image and text below):

Barack Obama, the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review, was born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii. The son of an American anthropologist and a Kenyan finance minister, he attended Columbia University and worked as a financial journalist and editor for Business International Corporation. He served as project coordinator in Harlem for the New York Public Interest Research Group, and was Executive Director of the Developing Communities Project in Chicago’s South Side. His commitment to social and racial issues will be evident in his first book, Journeys in Black and White.

...Obama has been known frequently to fictionalize aspects of his own life. During his 2008 campaign, for instance, Obama claimed that his dying mother had fought with insurance companies over coverage for her cancer treatments.

That turned out to be untrue, but Obama has repeated the story--which even the Washington Post called "misleading"--in a campaign video for the 2012 election.

The Acton & Dystel biography could also reflect how Obama was seen by his associates, or transitions in his own identity. He is said, for instance, to have cultivated an "international" identity until well into his adulthood, according to Maraniss.

Regardless of the reason for Obama's odd biography, the Acton & Dystel booklet raises new questions as part of ongoing efforts to understand Barack Obama--who, despite four years in office remains a mystery to many Americans, thanks to the mainstream media.

Like Andrew Breitbart, I don't believe Obama was born in Kenya.

However, I do believe that Obama will play with his identity when he sees it as being politically or personally expedient.

Obama appears willing to alter his persona for his own benefit. He'll create of composite of himself. He won't hesitate to mess with the facts.

He will lie and his followers let him get away with it. In fact, they eat it up.

Didn't Obama feel guilty for misrepresenting himself so frequently and with such gusto?

This new case of misrepresentation, like the many others, speak to Obama's character.

He will be as dishonest as he wants to be, and a lot of people don't mind.

I do mind.

During the 2008 campaign, I wrote that Obama seemed to believe his own myth.

I had no idea how freely Obama constructed himself.

Reality be damned.

Donald Trump and Robert De Niro: Obama Birth Certificate

Donald Trump made his usual Monday appearance on FOX & Friends.

Trump talked about high gas prices. He talked about his voting record, specifically his failure to vote in primaries. And he addressed Robert De Niro's criticism of Trump for making an issue of Obama's birth certificate.

Video.

Transcript

STEVE DOOCY: Meanwhile here in New York City over the weekend, they've been having the Tribeca Film Festival. The guy who started it, Robert DeNiro, it sounded like he was, he did call you out.

He said, a couple of days ago, quote: 'I won't mention names, but certain people in the news in the last couple of weeks, just, what are they doing? It's crazy. They're making statements about people that they don't even back up.... Go get the facts before you start saying things about people.'

And apparently later he did reveal that he was, in part, talking about you. What do you say to Robert DeNiro?

GRETCHEN CARLSON: With the birther issue.

DOOCY: Yeah.

DONALD TRUMP: Well, he's not the brightest bulb on the planet. I mean, I've been watching him over the years, and I like his acting; but, you know, in terms of, in terms of when I watch him doing interviews and various other things, we're not dealing with Albert Einstein. And, you know, he can say what he wants, but the fact is this guy has not revealed his birth certificate.

A lot of people agree with me. I'll tell you what, with all that I do, what I do best is China, jobs, OPEC, all of this. That's what I do best. That's gonna be my strength. It is my strength. I really understand it. I know the people. But with all of that, I think I get more positive... when I'm walking down the street, when I did, recently I did a Tea Party event, and we had a tremendous crowd. They loved this issue. There are so many people that really want him to provide his birth certificate.

I mean, now you have states going out and saying in order to run for office you have to be able to provide a birth certificate. There's a big lot of things going on with respect to the birth certificate. You know, why did he spend, why is he spending millions of dollars to fight this issue instead of just providing this birth certificate? There are so many different elements here. And I will say, it's a very frightening thing for this country.

BRIAN KILMEADE: Well, there's a couple of people that backed you up. OK, De Niro is not in your corner. That's a loss. But David Brooks of the New York Times said some nice things about you and Franklin Graham has indicated that he's leaning towards endorsing you for the Republican nomination.

Trump really knows how to work the media.

Bob Beckel: 'Birthers, Baggers, and Blowhards'

I wonder if Bob Beckel, professor at George Washington University, has been watching too much Keith Olbermann.

The name-calling from the Leftists is getting out of control.

I know they're upset about the American people turning against the Obama regime, but they could at least maintain some semblance of decorum.

Video.

BOB BECKEL: You know, for a party of birthers, baggers and blowhards, you guys have done absolutely nothing to help this country along.... Birthers, baggers, and blowhards. You got it.

Good grief.

Beckel is losing it, absolutely unhinged.

Does he really think he's helping Obama and the Democrat cause by trashing Republicans like that?
